Charlamagne Tha God has given his verdict about Sean 'Diddy' Combs's abuse scandal on The View, as he accused people of getting 'lost in talking about the celebrity and not talking about the actual issue' at hand.

The 45-year-old host - who faced accusations of sexual assault back in 2001 - mocked Diddy's apology video earlier this week on The Breakfast Club radio show and accused the rapper, 54, of simply being 'sorry he got caught' after footage emerged of him physically assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016.

When host Sunny Hostin asked Charlamagne - whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey - about Diddy on Wednesday's show, he replied: 'I think when it comes to this situation, I think we shouldn't focus on the individual but the issue.

'I think what happens a lot of times... because of the celebrity, we get lost in talking about the celebrity and not talking about the actual issue. The issue is domestic violence.'

'The issue is men not going to do the proper work on themselves and they're dealing with a lot of pain and a lot of hurt and unhealed trauma, and they're projecting that pain and hurt on to the other people,' he continued.

'The issue is patriarchy, right? Because as long as you have a system where men feel superior to women and dealing with that pain and they're dealing with that hurt, they're going to project that... we're going to continue to project that on to our women.

'So, I think those are the issues that we should be discussing as opposed to talking about the individual and we tend to do that a lot as a society, we get lost in the celebrity of things as opposed to, "What are we here for?"

'Diddy brings the engagement, but right now as I'm talking, there's a woman out there getting beat up by a man and she's not going to get no news coverage, nobody's going to talk about her.'

Sunny, 55, replied: 'We should say the name of Cassie, the survivor of the domestic violence, let's talk more about her,' to which Charlamagne replied: 'Yes absolutely. Let's talk about the actual issue and not the individual.'

Referring to the conversations he thinks that people should be having about hip-hop, Charlamagne told the panel: 'I just think about the influence of hip-hop and the influence that hip-hop has on culture, the way that we talk, the way that we walk, and the way we dress and just growing up... all the influence that hip-hop had on me.

'I just think that you have to use that tool of hip-hop, that resource of hip-hop to really empower people. Like when I look at guys like Kendrick Lamar with his last album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, or Jay-Z... the 444 album.

'I think in the future we're going to look at those albums and think they're the two most important albums of all time because of the topics that they're discussing on there.'

He continued: 'They're talking about going to therapy, they're talking about the infidelity that they did and how they're trying to be better men towards their women and just the whole journey of healing, that's what we should be talking about.

'If you look at the last 50 years of hip-hop, it was almost like we were little boys and now we're growing into manhood. And in order to have a career, you do have to grow up.'

His comments come after he condemned Diddy for his apology video during an episode of The Breakfast Club on Monday.

'You can’t believe anything that comes out of Diddy’s mouth,' Charlamagne began, after his co-host played a clip of Diddy’s apology. 'He’s not sorry, he’s sorry he got caught. He’s sorry that the video leaked, okay? If that video hadn’t come out, he’d still be lying right now.'

In 2018, The Blast reported that Charlamagne was arrested in 2001 due to an arrest warrant for 'a charge of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the 2nd degree, for an incident that allegedly occurred the month before.'

The documents filed by the alleged victim, Jessica Reid, claimed that Charlamagne 'willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously engage in penile/vaginal intercourse with a fifteen-year-old female child.'

It was reported that officials had always maintained that Charlamagne cooperated with the investigation and took a DNA test, which did not produce any evidence that he had sexual contact with the girl.

However, he did plead guilty to 'contributing to the delinquency of a minor' due to throwing the party where the assault took place.

He was sentenced to three years of probation and has always denied the allegations.
