A New York City woman used her dying breath to revealed the name of the person she says stabbed her, according to police.

Shirley Rodriguez, 29, was waiting for a Uber to take her to work on Monday morning when she was attacked outside her family's apartment on Haven Avenue near West 172nd Street.

While being slashed, she rang the buzzer of the building and was able to contact her family for help.

Her father, Henry Rodriguez, ran down and was able to hear his daughter's final words, reported PIX11

'She was fighting back the whole time. As she's dying, she tells him [Henry], "Ty did this,"' NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said.

Shirley was referring to her ex-boyfriend, Tyquane Jemmott, 33, whom she had broken up with the week before after two years of dating.

Police said Jemmott allegedly waited between two cars outside of the apartment until she left for work before attacking her.

Shirley was stabbed several times in the front and back of the body, neck, arm and face.

The brutal attack, which was caught on video, lasted one minute, and Shirley was slashed, punched and dragged, leaving a trail of blood along the building and parked car.

'She was calling for help. She said, "Dad, dad, hurry. Come downstairs,"' Henry told The New York Daily News.

'So I threw something on, and I went downstairs with a kitchen knife because obviously something was up. I ran down the stairs, and it was just a bloody scene. And my daughter was standing there with a big gash on her face.'

'My instinct was to chase him, but I couldn't leave her by herself. She was bleeding. He was gone. Somebody else chased him,' he said.

Jemmott was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the fatal stabbing.

Shirley's sister, Tibby, said she was not surprised to hear her sister say it was Jemmott and that the couple's relationship was rocky.

'He wouldn't give her her space and he didn't respect those boundaries she was setting,' Tibby said.

'One of her last straws was when she posted a baby picture on her Instagram story and he accused her of having a new follower. And she got fed up and blocked him. Then he started texting her. He would keep track.'
