Joe Biden supporters thought they'd caught Eric Trump in an embarrassing gaffe confusing a crowd of his father's supporters with the president's.
But it turned out the Twitter mob that came after Donald Trump's middle son was comically mistaken.
Eric Trump shared the video of a crowd lining the streets of Manhattan on Tuesday which he said was in support of his father after his trial.
'It was such a beautiful scene pulling back up to Trump Tower! Such unbelievable love!' he wrote.
Within hours, the post was being mockingly retweeted and having 'community notes' attached to it declaring it was the wrong crowd
The pile-on continued until Trump's deputy communications director Margo Martin revealed she was the one who filmed the video
The video showed the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 56th Street, which is right next to Trump Tower.
Within hours, the post was being mockingly retweeted and having 'community notes' attached to it declaring it was the wrong crowd.
'It's a video of a crowd that was gathered for President Biden back in April when he visited Howard Stern in NY,' the note read.
The pile-on continued until Trump's deputy communications director Margo Martin revealed she was the one who filmed the video.

Another video by Trump's lawyer Alina Habba shot from another car in the motorcade also showed exactly the same scene, with the same man and same green crane
'The only liars here are you and Joe Biden,' she wrote in response to one of the tweets, by former NBC executive Mike Sington.
'I took this video from President Trump’s motorcade outside of Trump Tower. Here’s the time stamped screenshot from my phone to prove it.'
Not everyone believed her, but more people began posting footage from different angles that proved Martin's video was of a Trump crowd from Tuesday.
C-SPAN video from behind the crowd showed people with identical clothes and accessories, including one in a red Trump MAGA hat.

The same people as in Martin's video and C-SPAN were present, along with a green crane in the background of both videos.
Having been proved wrong, the community notes disappeared and Sington among others deleted their mocking tweets.
