A disgruntled shopper was forced to execute a '78-point turn' after their Hyundai became wedged in the entryway of a busy Westfield.

The driver found themselves in a tight spot after they realised they were going the wrong way in the Westfield Hornsby car park in Sydney's Upper North Shore.

Instead of reversing back out, they attempted to make a three-point turn.

In footage captured by another driver, the car was seen inching forwards and backwards for several long minutes before it mounted the kerb.

After dozens of maneuvers, the driver was able to wedge the car free before they zoomed away.

The footage, which was later shared to Reddit, quickly caught the attention of Aussies who questioned how the driver had gotten stuck.

'There's both a high level of stupidity and skill on display here,' one wrote.

'Bro really decided that executing a 78-point turn was the only option,' a second said.

A third shared: 'I'm still confused as to why you would not just reverse out around the corner. But hey a 20-point turn also works I guess.'

'I can't be the only one looking at this thinking, how on earth do you even get into that situation?' a fourth commented.

'That reverse camera must have had a panic attack today,' a fifth wrote.

One viewer questioned if the driver had been trying to avoid paying for parking.

'You'd be surprised how many times I've seen people drive up that entry out of pure stupidity,' the original poster replied.
