The backlash to Harrison Butker's controversial commencement speech continues, with former SportsNation host Michelle Beadle stepping into the fray.

A number of people have spoken out against the Chiefs kicker's speech at Benedictine College in Kansas - which saw him speak out on a number of topics ranging from the current political landscape, to President Joe Biden, to gender issues and the role of women in home life.

That last part in particular has garnered plenty of flack, with Butker saying women have been 'diabolically lied to' on a number of topics, including their role in the workplace.

Beadle vehemently disagreed with Butker's assessment on the 'Over the Top' podcast alongside Peter Rosenberg.

'As a woman, I think everything he said was garbage,' said Beadle - who has been in sports journalism for over two decades.

'I think when you hide hateful thoughts and feelings and bigotry behind the quote unquote cloak of religion, I tend to roll my eyes and stop listening.

'But I think the fact that there were women in that audience that were not OK. I mean, granted, there were some that clearly were, but some that weren't that have come out since and said, what the hell, dude?

'We just worked our asses off for years. And you're gonna come in here and tell us that's all cute and stuff, but what you're really gonna wanna do is get married and have babies. Then you'll feel important. Like go f–k yourself.'

'And by the way, it's also my freedom of speech to say, go f–k yourself, Harrison Butker. That's my freedom. I can do that,' she added.

Recently, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes broke his silence on Wednesday, defending the character of his teammate but admitting that he disagreed with Butker on 'certain things'.

'I've known Harrison for seven years. I judge him by the character he shows every single day,' Mahomes said after one of the Chiefs OTAs.

'We're not always going to agree, and there are certain things he said that I don't necessarily agree with.

'But I know the person he is and he's doing what he can to lead people in the right direction.'
