Actor Robert De Niro loaned his voice to the Biden campaign for a new ad that claimed former President Donald Trump 'snapped' after losing the 2020 race.
On Friday, the Biden campaign said the 30-second spot was to remind voters of Trump's 'tumultuous presidency,' and then his decline into 'the unhinged power-hungry candidate he is today.'
A source familiar with the creation of the spot told DailyMail.com that De Niro was shown the ad with a generic voiceover and less than 24 hours later he told the campaign he loved it and recorded it using his distinct voice.
'From mignight tweets to drinking bleach, to tear-gassing citizens and staging a photo-op, we knew Trump was out of control when he was president,' De Niro said in the ad. 'Then he lost the 2020 election and snapped.'
Scenes from January 6 played onscreen as De Niro said that Trump was 'desperately trying to hold onto power.'

'From mignight tweets to drinking bleach, to tear-gassing citizens and staging a photo-op, we knew Trump was out of control when he was president,' De Niro said in the 30-second spot
'Now he's running again, this time threatening to be a dictator, to terminate the Constitution,' the actor went on.
The ad cuts to a clip of Trump where the ex-president said: 'If I don't get elected, it's going to be a bloodbath.'
The 'bloodbath' comment was originally uttered as Trump stirred up fears about China building cars in Mexico, which could eat away at the U.S. auto industry.
The former president has told supporters that he would be their 'retribution' as he runs for the White House for a third time.
'Trump wants revenge, and he'll stop at nothing to get it,' De Niro said to conclude the ad.
It will run on TV and digital platforms across battleground states as well as on cable, the campaign said.
De Niro's language mirrors what President Joe Biden has said about Trump on the campaign trail in recent days.
The 30-second ad showed former President Donald Trump's infamous photo-op moment with a Bible across the street from the White House after Black Lives Matter demonstrators had been tear-gassed to clear the way for the president and his aides
During campaign events over the weekend in Atlanta and Detroit, Biden said Trump 'snapped.'
'He's not only obsessed with losing in 2020, he's clearly been unhinged,' the president said at a closed-door fundraiser Saturday evening in Atlanta.
De Niro's involvement comes as the campaign has gotten Hollywood more involved.
A largescale Los Angeles fundraiser is being planned featuring George Clooney and Julia Roberts next month.
The A-listers will be joined by former President Barack Obama.
A day after appearing in the White House briefing room earlier this month, Star Wars actor Mark Hamill sent out a fundraising plea on behalf of the 2024 campaign.
De Niro has long been a supporter of Biden and other Democrats - and attended last month's glitzy state dinner with Japan with girlfriend Tiffany Chen.
In the past, he's referred to Trump as 'pure evil,' said the Republican was a 'total monster' and said another Trump term would be a 'nightmare' for the country.
