A father who's son was killed alongside his wife while working as missionaries in Haiti has revealed details about the young couple's final moments.

Davy Lloyd and his wife Natalie Lloyd were killed alongside Judes Montis after being attacked by gangs in the crisis hit capital Port-au-Prince on Thursday.

Davy's father David established the mission the three had been working for and has now revealed further details about what happened to them.

The country has descended into chaos after attacks in February when gunman seized control of police stations and attacked the airport in the capital.

Speaking to The Miami Herald, Lloyd said that two gangs had stormed the mission property, the first making off with goods, and the second group killing the three.

He told the outlet that gang members first went onto the mission's property just as Natalie and Davy were coming out of church with several youths.

Lloyd, 48, said: 'They drove him into the house, tied him up and beat him. Then they proceeded to loot the whole house, everything they wanted and took my trucks and drove off with them.

After that gang left, fellow staff and children untied Davy and he headed to his parents' property to call them.

On the way, him and Natalie met up with Montis, the director of the nonprofit when another group of gunmen stormed the property.

Lloyd said that what happened next was 'immense panic' with the children at the mission using ladders to climb over walls and escape.

'I was on the phone with my son when that was going down. He said, "Dad, we got a commotion again. I’ve got to go see what’s going on", Lloyd said.

The three barricaded themselves into his parents' home on the property before gang members made their way inside.

Despite their attempts, Lloyd said the gang members made their way inside and killed the three of them before setting fire to their bodies.

Lloyd is now tasked with having to get their bodies and have them sent to a morgue, he confirmed.

He added: 'I’m just at a total loss, I’m just in total shock. I haven’t grieved. I haven’t done anything else. I haven’t eaten. I can’t think.

Him and his wife Alicia founded the group Missions in Haiti in 2000 and brought their son up in the country.

He added: 'Creole is his first language and Haiti has his heart', recalling how his son left Haiti for bible college in the US he 'told basically all the girls there, ‘Don’t even talk to me if you’re not willing to live in Haiti the rest of your life, cause that’s my home.'

The three had been ambushed by gunmen belonging to the Terre Nwa/Terre Noire, Lloyd told the outlet.

The gang is lead by Cathel Jones, an ally of the G9 gang federation headed by former cop Jimmy 'Barbecue' Chérizier.

Workers who pulled their bodies from the home told the Herald that Natalie’s body was not burned and Davy appeared to have been pulled out before his body was completely charred.

He said: 'My heart is broken in a thousand pieces. I’ve never felt this kind of pain.

'Most of you know my daughter and son-in-law Davy and Natalie Lloyd are full time missionaries in Haiti.

Baker added: 'Please pray for my family we desperately need strength. And please pray for the Lloyd family as well. I have no other words for now.'

Former president Donald Trump shared a post to his Truth Social page about the couple, saying: 'God bless Davy and Natalie. Such a tragedy. Haiti is totally out of control. Find the killers NOW!!!'

Missions in Haiti runs a school for 450 children alongside two churches and a children's home in the Bon Repos neighborhood of Port-au-Prince.

Gangs control 80 per cent of Port-au-Prince, and the coordinated attacks paralyzed the capital and beyond.

Gangs have burned police stations and hospitals, opened fire on the main international airport and stormed Haiti's two biggest prisons, releasing more than 4,000 inmates.

The attack on the airport left former prime minister Ariel Henry locked out of Haiti since he was on an official trip to Kenya at the time.

He has since resigned, and a transitional presidential council is seeking a new prime minister for Haiti. It is also tasked with selecting a new Cabinet and organizing general elections.

Gangs since then have directed their attacks on previously peaceful communities, leaving thousands homeless.

More than 2,500 people have been killed or injured in Haiti from January to March, a more than 50% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the United Nations.

After months of being inactive, the main international airport reopened for the first time earlier this week.

The reopening of the Toussaint-Louverture airport in the capital of Port-au-Prince is expected to help ease a critical shortage of medications and other basic supplies since the country’s main seaport remains paralyzed.

Only Sunrise Airways – a local carrier, is flying in and out of Port-au-Prince for now. US-based airlines are not expected to start doing so until late May or early June.

The US evacuated hundreds of its citizens by helicopter out of a hilly neighborhood in Port-au-Prince, as did non-profit organizations, as gangs laid siege to parts of the capital
