The most common nicknames parents-to-be give their baby bump include ‘peanut’, ‘bean’ and ‘berry’, a poll has revealed.
Some 60 per cent of prospective parents name their bump and 71 per cent continue to use the monikers after their child is born.
The most popular name assigned to bumps was ‘peanut’, used by one in ten expectant couples.
When it came to her newborn son's name in 2013, pop superstar Adele chose to keep it under wraps and instead referred to him by his nickname 'Little Peanut'.
The survey of 1,000 parents-to-be and those with children younger than five, carried out for Pregnacare by supplements firm Vitabiotics, found nicknames are often inspired by the bump’s size.

Other common sources of inspiration include nicknames of nearest and dearest or pets, family traditions and favourite foods.
'Nugget’, ‘berry’ and ‘bean’ appear in the top ten and popular picks during pregnancy include 'Wiggler', 'Fidget' and Squish', researchers found.
'Buddy', Beansprout', 'Bubba' and 'Bumpy' also feature in the top 25 along with 'Toad', 'Shrimp', 'Mouse' and 'Mango'.
For seven in ten parents - 71 per cent - the bump's nickname sticks and they continue to use it well after the birth.
Nearly half - 46 per cent - then created personalised items displaying their baby bump's name.
And an overwhelming nine in ten - 89 per cent - said that the nickname helped them bond with their baby before the birth.
Of those that did not name their bump, 44 per cent said they simply did not feel the need while 18 per cent were afraid of becoming too attached and wanted to wait for the baby to arrive safely.
Susanne Bisinotto, of Vitabiotics, said: 'The journey of becoming a parent starts as soon as you hear the exciting news.
'Even though this can be a rollercoaster of a time, many parents have experienced the psychological benefits of starting this special bond with their baby through giving their baby bump a nickname.'
