A Royal Caribbean passenger has died after jumping from the world's largest cruise ship.

The unidentified man jumped over 80ft from the enormous Icon of the Seas soon after it departed from Florida on Sunday.

He had been on the first night of a week-long trip to Honduras.

'The ship’s crew immediately notified the U.S. Coast Guard and launched a search and rescue operation,' Royal Caribbean told DailyMail.com in a statement.

'Our Care Team is actively providing support and assistance to the guest’s loved ones during this difficult time. For the privacy of the guest and their family, we have no additional details to share.'
