News of this attack comes months after it was revealed that over 5,000 NYPD cops are being assaulted at a record-high rate as the number of criminals allowed to walk the streets and illegal migrants in the Big Apple skyrockets.
In 2023, the number of officers hurt by violent suspects totaled just over 4,000 during the first nine months of the year. NYPD statistics indicate that the total number of violent events is projected to land around 5,400.
In the year 2022, that figure was about 4,700 - a 20 percent jump compared to 2021, when the number was about 3,950.
In the first three-quarters of 2023, 261 of the injuries inflicted on cops were categorized as either substantial or serious - a number that puts the year on track to see a 10 percent spike in the figure.
