Working from home can come with its perks, but it can also pave the way for unexpected and awkward occurrences.

Since the pandemic, an increased number of employees from across the globe have ditched the office to work from home, using platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet, to chat with colleagues.

However, many have fallen into the trap of leaving their camera on when they thought it was turned off, causing them to unknowingly show colleagues things best left private.

From a news host caught dancing in her living room to selecting inappropriate filters, many unfortunate events have happened in this way.

Elsewhere, a mother found herself living every parent’s nightmare as she was caught naked in the back of her child's Zoom class.

Working from home might seem like the more comfortable option, but it can give rise to awkward occurrences, such as when a news anchor was caught on camera working out in her living room over Zoom during an ad break (pictured)

A half-naked man in speedos made an unexpected appearance into the background of an Arizona lawmaker's Zoom call during a meeting of the Pima County Board of Supervisors.

County Supervisor Dr. Matt Heinz, 45, who previously served in the Obama administration, joined the meeting remotely from a cruise ship in the Caribbean.

The 9:00 am meeting was two hours in when Heinz's unidentified and much younger travel companion wandered in to the shot. The man wore a black vest and a black Speedo.

He lifted up his shirt, then froze and looked at the computer, apparently not immediately realizing that Heinz was in a meeting. The physician quickly turned off his camera at that point.

But it proved to be nothing more than an optical illusion, with Shelly snapping a photo of their screens so fans could see what they saw.

She explained that she'd been wearing a strapless dress, which was cropped out of the frame, giving the impression she was in the nude.

'A few things I discovered today… 1. If you wear a strapless dress you look naked on Zoom,' she captioned the hilarious post.

A mother-of-three from Jacksonville, Florida experienced every parent's nightmare when she accidentally crashed her daughter's Zoom meeting with her classmates — while completely naked.

But little did she know that while she was in there, her youngest daughter had moved into her bedroom and started a Zoom meeting.

So when Ashley came out of the bathroom with just a towel wrapped around her head — and nothing else — she realised too late that her seven-year-old's classmates could see her completely naked.

In a viral Facebook post, Ashley explained that her daughters were all set up for virtual learning that day when she went to shower in the master bathroom.

When she got out, she walked naked across her room to get her clothes heard giggles, followed by the sound of her daughter saying 'hang on' and another voice saying 'I think we need to hang up. We might all be in trouble.'

A Spanish news anchor was caught out by eagle-eyed viewers when they spotted a semi-naked woman, believed not be his 'Big Brother' star girlfriend, walking behind him while he was live on air.

Alfonso Merlos was hosting on the Estado de Alarma channel live on YouTube from his home, but was oblivious to what was going on behind him until a national scandal broke out soon after.

Viewers were quick to note that the woman who passed behind did not look like his girlfriend, and discovered that she was in fact a fellow 27-year-old journalist, named Alexia Rivas.

The broadcast was not just scandalous due to the involvement of some famous Spanish TV personalities, but also because Rivas' presence suggested the pair had broken Spain's strict coronavirus social distancing measures to have their fling.

The incident led to accusations of Merlos cheating on his Big Brother star girlfriend Marta López, but he has since insisted that he and López were not together when he was caught out.

The worker, referred to on the call as Jennifer, is seen walking through her home as a colleague discusses work, saying: 'It depends on the ethical standards of a profession, and from what I've heard social work has very high standards.'

But as she spoke, Jennifer was seen removing her trousers and sitting on the toilet - leaving her workmates in fits of laughter.

Jennifer soon figured out her mistake and turned the camera to the wall, but not before her colleagues noticed.

'What happened?' asked one woman as the others giggled in the background. 'Oh my god, Jennifer,' said one while another added, 'I saw nothing.'

The video which has had more than seven million views on Twitter inspired #PoorJennifer, but some pointed out that someone on the call must have posted the video.

Mark Borlace, from the Royal Automobile Association, accidentally chose a filter that made him look as if he was wearing a miniature hat shaped like a pizza.

He had tried to select a filter that would simply blur his background but instead chose a photo of a girl washing a car and then a man scuba diving with a turtle.

'Studio effects... How do I get back to blur... studio filters,' he muses as Monfries notices his Zoom faux pas and immediately starts to giggle.

The presenter is seen covering her mouth with a hand in an effort to contain her giggles before finally wiping tears of laughter from her eyes.

'I'm going to log out and come right back in,' Mr Borlace said after noticing the hat 'Ok... good, awesome,' Monfries replied while attempting to pull herself together.

She told Ndevu: 'Inkosi, people behind you are not properly dressed. We are seeing everything. Please, Inkosi, did you tell them you are in a meeting. It is very disturbing what we are seeing.'

The hilarious video began with presiding judge Roy Ferguson telling Ponton: 'I believe you have a filter turned on in video settings and you might want to turn it off'

A Texas lawyer accidentally left a kitten filter on during a Zoom hearing, hilariously telling the judge 'I'm not a cat' as he frantically tried to remove the animated image.

The amusing mishap happened to Presidio County attorney Rod Ponton during a live streamed hearing this morning for the 394th Judicial District Court of Brewster.

The video began with presiding judge Roy Ferguson telling Ponton: 'I believe you have a filter turned on in video settings and you might want to turn it off.'

Ponton is then heard letting out a panicked 'aghh', as the cat filter over his face started shifting its eyes back-and-forth and moving its mouth in unison with his voice.

'Can you hear me judge,' the feline-emblazoned Ponto is heard asking, his voice quivering.

'It is [a filter]', Ponton hastily interjects. 'And I don’t know how to remove it. I’ve got my assistant here, she’s trying to, but ahhh I’m prepared to go forward with it… I’m here live, I’m not a cat.'

At this point, the two other people present at the hearing, H. Gibbs Bauer and Jerry L. Phillips, begin to laugh.

The judge then calmly offered Ponton a step-by-step guide for how to remove the kitten filter, before the video abruptly cuts out.

10. Awkward moment lawyer is caught having sex during Zoom meeting

A lawyer was caught having sex during a Zoom court hearing after leaving his computer camera on.

The judge presiding over the virtual hearing branded lawyer Hector Paredes Robles a disgrace for his X-rated public performance in central Peru on Tuesday.

Astonished court officials watched on as Paredes Robles stripped off and sat on a chair before a naked brunette believed to be a client climbed on his lap.

Judge John Chahua Torres sent a police officer to intervene as a female aide tried to alert Paredes Robles his sex session was being watched and recorded on a live feed.

The surreal sequence of events occurred in 2021 during a virtual remand hearing organised by a court in Pichanaki in the central Peruvian region of Junin.

The lawyer's client was held after an operation against an organised crime gang.

As the sex scene showed no sign of stopping, judge Torres said: 'We are witnessing obscene acts which represent a violation of public decency and are aggravated by the fact they are being recorded nationally.'

A female court worker confirmed the camera belonged to Paredes Robles. The judge then instructed the State Prosecution Service to launch an immediate investigation.

A Zoom call where a semi-naked man appeared behind Lithuanian MP Petras Grazulis drew huge attention in the country

An outspokenly anti-LGBT politician raised eyebrows after a semi-naked man appeared behind him during a Zoom call in 2020.

The video showed a document on screen before cutting to Lithuanian MP Petras Grazulis's webcam. Only the top of his head is visible as a topless man peers at the screen over his shoulder.

A parliamentary chairman suggested the man was likely a relative assisting the MP with computer troubles.

Grazulis - who is known for anti-LGBT rhetoric and rallies - was attending an official meeting from home due to the coronavirus pandemic when the man joined him onscreen.

The pair can be seen staring curiously at the screen for mere moments before it quickly cuts back to the on-screen document.

Some rummaging and a squeaking noise is heard in the background when the video switches back to the document.

The Zoom meeting was broadcast live on the parliament's website, according to local newspaper LRT, then quickly spread online.

Local media pointed out the potential irony of Grazulis - who has protested Pride events in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius - appearing next to a topless man.

A Wittenberg University English class got a bit of comic relief during a 2020 Zoom lesson thanks to their professor's bored teenage son.

Mike Mattison, an English professor at the Springfield, Ohio school, was teaching his class via video conference when his 19-year-old son Lucas popped up in the background.

Lucas dressed up in several different costumes, including a wetsuit and a graduation cap and gown, and acted out scenes behind his father, who continued teaching as if nothing was happening in the background.

Lucas is himself a freshman at Xavier University, but was at home quarantining with his family. Meanwhile his father had continued to hold classes online.

The video began with Professor Mattison teaching while Lucas walked behind him in a wetsuit, carrying a surfboard and talking on a cell phone, seemingly lost on his way to the beach.

He then comes back in a cap and gown, pretending to wave at friends at a graduation ceremony.

He changes again, becoming a soldier with a crossbow and a ninja with a gun. All the while, his dad continues to teach.

But when Lucas walks out in his final costume, Professor Mattison finally gets his revenge. He picks up a Nerf gun he has hidden under the desk, and turns around to shoot his son several times, scaring him out of the frame.

Sarah Harris was caught out in an awkward moment after the cameras were left rolling during an ad break on Studio 10.

The TV presenter was outed by her colleagues for working out in her living room over Zoom.

Entertainment reporter Angela Bishop and former Bachelor Matty J Johnson addressed the workout clip that was caught on camera.

'It's good to see you've been productive while stuck at home,' Angela told Sarah. 'We caught you busting a move in the ad break yesterday.'

They then played the clip, which showed Sarah exercising in her living room and following a dance class by EmKFit on YouTube.

While she was exercising, the Chicken Dance song was heard playing in the background.

After explaining the source of the dance class, the TV host said that the workout put her 'in a better headspace' after being stuck in isolation for days during the pandemic.
