An Arizona woman who spent $308 on a Costco grocery haul now owes a total of $5,241.
Ashton Weinberger of Arcadia shopped at a Costco in Phoenix last month and purchased the store products with her Citi credit card.
According to AZFamily, Weinberger received notifications from Citi about duplicate charges being made to her card shortly after the trip to Costco.
'At first, I was thinking, "Oh, that’s weird. It’s delayed." But then it hit again and again and again,' she told AZFamily earlier this month.
Weinberger complained about the 17 extra charges to Costco, to which employees told her that they had 'no idea' what happened.

The Phoenix Costco, where Weinberger purchased her groceries, is one of 20 Arizona store locations.
Weinberger told AZFamily that the duplicate charges have made things 'very stressful' since she and her husband are renovating their home.
'When you’re doing a renovation, you are very tightly budgeting,' she said.
'You need all the finances that you have available, so to suddenly not have $5,000 - It’s critical to getting the project done.'
Despite her Costco complaint, the charges were not removed from Weinberger's account.
'I showed them all the charges. And they said, well, we’ll look into it, and then days went by,' she told AZFamily.
Weinberger contacted AZFamily and thought that Citi and Costco 'need the voice of the media to make some movement.'
After Weinberger contacted the news station, AZFamily reached out to Costco and the company responded that it is working with the shopper to resolve the situation.

Weinberger is not the first customer to complain about extra charges being made to their account.
Multiple X (formerly Twitter) users claimed in their tweets about being double charged for their groceries between 2023 and 2024.
'Costco double charged my card and when I talked to them, they were like, you weren't double charged...,' an X user tweeted on May 16.
'I'm literally looking at my bank account... There are two charges here and I'm out an extra $68 until I can get ahold of my bank.'
One X user wrote a tweet in November 2023 and claimed that she was double charged the milk she purchased during her grocery trip.
'I bought a bunch of groceries. I bought four large milk cartons. I checked my received and they charged me for eight,' she claimed in her tweet.
I paid extra for things that I didn't get. Way to go #Costco.'

Costco has recently made headlines after announcing that it would begin offering prescriptions for weight loss drugs, including Ozempic.
The retail store chain and Sesame teamed up to create a weight-loss program that gives Costco shoppers access to approved GLP-1 prescription drugs.
Members of the Costco can sign up for the program that runs at $179 for three months and non-members can also do it for $195 a month.
'We are witnessing important innovations in medically-supervised weight loss,' said David Goldhill, Sesame's co-founder and CEO, said in a news release.
He added that Sesame's 'unique model' will allow them to make 'high-quality specialty care' more accessible and 'to empower clinicians to create care plans that are specific to — and appropriate for — each individual patient.'
