Donald Trump's lawyer insists nothing will stop the ex-president from running for a second term in the White House, even if he has to campaign from a prison cell.

Trump was found guilty on Thursday on all 34 counts of falsifying business records for covering up the hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels in an effort to influence the 2016 election.

His sentencing is scheduled for July 11. The ex-president is not expected by legal experts to face jail time, but each sentence carries a maximum of four years in prison.

In an interview with the BBC, Trump's lawyer Alina Habba said Trump will run for president even if he fails on his appeal or ends up in a jail cell.

'He is running for president. Nothing will change that,' Habba said.

When pressed over him running even if he is locked up, she pointed to polling and a surge in donations since he became a convicted felon.

'Again, I recommend you find the latest polls in this country from the people that live in this country,' she said. 'The people that need him in this country. Because frankly, it’s more important than anything anybody else thinks. Our people are speaking loudly.'

Trump's campaign claims it raised more than $50 million in donations  after the former president was convicted.

The latest polls show an extremely tight race between Trump and President Biden. The Real Clear Politics average has Trump up by less than one point.

Trump was asked about the possibility of being sentenced to house arrest or even jail time during a very friendly interview with Fox & Friends over the weekend.

'I'm okay with it,' Trump responded.

'I saw one of my lawyers the other day on television saying, oh, no, you don't want to do that to the pres -- I said, don’t, you know, beg for anything. It's just the way it is,' he went on.

Trump also attacked the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Judge Juan Merchan who will determine his sentencing.

Typically, prison is not recommended for the type of the charges Trump was convicted of.

Legal experts note he is considered a non-violent offender with white collar criminal convictions. Trump at 77-years-old also has no prior convictions.

They expect the ex-president is more likely to face probation or hefty fines.

Once the sentencing takes place, Trump's legal team is expected to appeal.
