Dr. Anthony Fauci, 83, tore into Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for her heated questioning of him during a House hearing on Monday.

The firebrand Republican lawmaker told Fauci that he belongs in prison for his guidance of the president during the COVID-19 pandemic – and accused him of contributing to a 'mass murder.'

Speaking about his testimony before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, Fauci said MTG's comments against him are driving death threats.

'The purpose of hearings is to try and figure out how we can do better so next time, if and when we are faced with a pandemic, we'd be better prepared and can benefit,' Fauci told CNN on Monday after appearing on Capitol Hill. 'If mistakes were made, we can identify them, and we try to correct them for the future.'

'That's not what we saw today.'

Fauci retired from government service at the end of 2022.

He said it's become a 'pattern' that he receives death threats after becoming the name behind the White House team combating coronavirus.

'Whenever somebody gets up, whether it's news media—Fox News does it a lot—or it's somebody in the Congress who gets up and makes a public statement that I'm responsible for the deaths of X number of people because of policies or some crazy idea that I created the virus, immediately—it's like clockwork—the death threats go way up,' Fauci explained.

Fauci detailed some of the death threats in his testimony – and received even more criticism for saying he 'made up' some of the rules surrounding COVID-19, like social distancing. He also admitted there wasn't science to prove that masking children in schools helped stop the spread of the virus.

While Rep. Greene agreed death threats are unacceptable, she reiterated her ire at Fauci in a post on Tuesday morning.

'No one should get death threats and I get them ALL THE TIME,' Greene wrote on X. 'But lucky for Mr Fauci, he has Secret Service Protection at the tax payers expense. I DO NOT, and have to pay for my own security and am a gun owner.'

'It's not my comments that have people furious at Mr Fauci, it's the FACT that his ridiculous, non-scientific, tyrannical policies DESTROYED people's lives and he's a narcissistic ass hole and liar which is why SO MANY people hate him,' she argued.

'Under Mr Fauci's leadership, viruses have been turned into deadly bioweapons and animals are murdered and abused, while he and his cronies get RICH off of patents they made while receiving government funded paychecks and running powerful government agencies that dictate medical guidelines and regulations.'

She concluded: 'Mr Fauci belongs in prison for crimes against humanity!!!'

Fauci blamed MTG for the death threats, claiming her 'unusual performance' at the hearing contributes to the messages he receives.

Greene denounced death threats – even against Fauci – but insists he deserved jail time for 'crimes against humanity'

'When you have performances like that unusual performance by Marjorie Taylor Greene in today's hearing,' Fauci told CNN. 'Those are the kind of things that drive up the death threats because there is a segment of the population out there that believe that kind of nonsense.'

At the hearing on Monday Greene told Fauci he should be 'prosecuted… from crimes against humanity.'

The Georgia Republican said Fauci used 'repulsive, evil science' to create guidelines for COVID-19 restrictions before showing the doctor a picture of him maskless during the pandemic at a baseball game.
