British analyst Sacha Fournier is the woman who created the McCheapest Map to display how much McDonald's locations nationwide currently charge for Big Macs.

The green dots on the McCheapest Map represent the best Big Mac deals, while the red-labeled areas are selling the burgers for high prices, according to the New York Post.

Most of the green dots are in the South and Midwest regions of the US, while states such as New York, California, and Arizona have more than one red mark.

The McCheapest Map indicated that Big Mac lovers who want to buy the burger for the low price of $3.49 must visit a McDonald's location in Stigler, Oklahoma.

Social media users have been outraged over the prices which led to the fast-food chain's president Joe Erlinger to publish an open letter to McDonald's customers on May 29.

Erlingler claimed that prices have 'only' gone up 40 percent at its US restaurants since before the pandemic.

'Recently, we have seen viral social posts and poorly sourced reports that McDonald’s has raised prices significantly beyond inflationary rates. This is inaccurate,' he wrote.

'I can tell you that it frustrates and worries me, and many of our franchisees, when I hear about an $18 Big Mac being sold — even if it was at one location in the U.S. out of more than 13,700.'

Erlinger added that the average price of a Big Mac in the US was $4.39 in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic and it didn't have a 100 percent price increase.

'Despite a global pandemic and historic rises in supply chain costs, wages and other inflationary pressures in the years that followed, the average cost is now $5.29,' he said.
