A video that shows two burglars trapped in a clothing store in Colombia before a cop arrived to arrest them apparently was nothing but a prank, DailyMail.com has learned.

The footage made rounds on social media Monday and showed the Cali store owner approaching a customer to help him with a soccer jersey.

The gunman can be seen trying to check the pockets of businessman, who tells him, 'Brother, calm down. I don't have anything.'

The gun-toting burglar then instructs the customer, who plays the role of accomplice, towards the back area of the store.

He can then be heard telling the owner, 'Sit there,' before the audio in the video is muted. Seconds later, the audio resumes as the gunman walks to the front of the store to check for their escape route.

The owner then runs to the front, jumps and pulls down the gate and shuts it from the outside, trapping the burglars inside.

The gunman tries to lift the gate with the help of his partner, who then assists him in climbing to the top in an attempt to tear the gate down. The audio goes missing for several seconds when the burglar takes his gun out to shoot at the base of the gate. The sound returns and the gunman asks his partner to help him raise the gate.

The audio goes in and out again and returns when the gunman runs towards the gate and delivers a karate kick.

Moments later someone shouts, 'the police have arrive, the police have arrived,' and person wearing a green uniform with a motorcycle helmet storms inside the store and points the gun at the suspects.

The store owner then closes the gate as the 'cop' searches each of the two men.

One of the suspects shouts, 'I don't have anything buddy,' as the video recording comes to an end.

A law enforcement source with knowledge of the video told DailyMail.com that the robbery was most likely part of a prank because none of the police stations filed a 'report of that case or any factual complaints.

They analyzed the video and found there was a red watermark on the upper left corner, which indicated that a recording was taking place.

'Generally, security cameras do not. They don't have that kind of watermark,' they said.

Their analysis of the video found that two sections of the recording didn't have audio.

'This means that the audio has been edited,' the law enforcement source said.

In addition, they noticed that the alleged victim was not shocked by the presence of the would-be burglars.

'The other thing is that it is not common for a person to enter an establishment to steal just a few t-shirts,' the police source said. 'What would generally occur is that the criminal enters and goes to the cash register to take out the money, cell phones.'

The law enforcement source said that the uniform used by the cop in the video doesn't match the one used by members of the Cali police force.

'Although he is wearing a police uniform, it does not correspond,' they said. 'Well, in certain aspects there are things that we use that would not correspond to (the) police officer (in the video).'
