Sarah Ferguson revealed she is 'so proud' of 'brave' King Charles and Kate Middleton for opening up about their cancer diagnosis.

The Duchess of York, 64, also opened up about her own recent experience with cancer saying they 'all need to rally together', as she appeared on Good Morning Britain alongside  Susanna Reid and Martin Lewis today.

She said: 'I am so so proud of the King on becoming the royal patron of Cancer Research UK, getting out there and talking to all these people, he gives everyone that wonderful feeling that they are being listened to, I thought it was very brave of him to do that.

'The lovely Princess Catherine doing the video was so brave, family unity is an extraordinary thing and I am honestly so proud and I am sending them lots of love and lots of support, we all need to rally together.'

Elsewhere Sarah, who lives in Royal Lodge with her ex-husband Prince Andrew, revealed she doesn't get 'involved in brothers' discussions' - amidst reports King Charles had 'threatened to sever all ties' with Andrew unless he leaves the Royal Lodge for his new home in Frogmore Cottage

The mother-of-two said: 'It's not a debby downer, it's just life in the fast lane. I am a guest for a starter. I am a very lucky guest and a very comfortable guest, thank you very much. But I tend not to get involved in brothers' discussions and I think that's the best, most safe place to be, is to let the brothers discuss it between themselves.'

The disgraced Prince Andrew, who no longer has official royal duties after being forced to quit over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, has allegedly been told to move out of the 30-room, £30 million mansion which he shares with Fergie.

Meanwhile Sarah, who is affectionately known as Fergie, revealed her new book A Woman of Intrigue is 'saucy and sexy' likening it to Bridgerton- which she says she would love to have a cameo in.

Asked about her 'frisky' new novel, Sarah said: 'Lady Mary is very into her underwear, saucy, sexy, sassy and silky underwear. The great thing about this is it's like Bridgerton.

'I want to be on Bridgerton. I think Lady Penelope should have a friend with red hair like me. I am putting it out there.'

Responding to Susanna asking about her own cancer diagnosis she said she has found her 'new normal'.

She said: 'All these years I've been thinking, "Am I good enough? Am I this, am I that? Do I get my finances right? Do I do this?". And actually suddenly now with a mastectomy and then with malignant melanoma, every single day, it's not a wake up call, it's now a new normal.

'You can never say you're cancer free, but you can say that I'm doing well, Susanna, and I'm very lucky, but I really am determined.

'Honestly 1.2 mammograms are not being picked up. The people are not going for their mammograms, they're not being tested. They need to be tested, they can be tested and don't be frightened.'

Susanna then revealed how she has had a mammogram after hearing the Duchess of York's message: 'I had been avoiding it because I was worried and it wasn’t the painful experience that I had in my head that it was - so thank-you. [It was] All clear, thank goodness.'

Elsewhere she opened up about limiting her 'huge personality' after her father, Major Ronald Ferguson, called her a 'bore' but that she found support from the late Queen.

She explained: 'Just before the Queen died she said ''Sarah just being yourself is enough and it's good enough'', as soon as she said that, now I walk on here to talk to you guys you can ask me anything you like. Because I feel I am ok now, I have done the apprenticeship of life at 64.

'I thought she was one of the finest people I have ever met in my life, a legend, and icon and I just love her.'

Queen Elizabeth's Corgis' were taken in by Sarah and the Duke of York, following the monarch's death.

Muick and Sandy were originally gifted to Queen Elizabeth II during lockdown to 'keep her entertained' while she was staying at Windsor Castle and the Duke of Edinburgh was struggling with his declining health.

Speaking about how they are doing Sarah added: 'They are fantastic and they just sit there, I think all the five Norfolk's are furious because the Corgis come in and they are, like, used to this and used to that.

'But they are fantastic, I believe this country must uphold the value system and integrity of the late Queen.'

It comes after Sarah was asked whether her recent experience with cancer had changed her outlook on life in a recent interview with Hello magazine.

She revealed that it had made her start being herself more. Speaking about her personality, she said she had previously 'tried to keep it under the cushion', revealing that her father, told her she was 'too much', or even to 'shut up, no one wants to hear from you'.

However, the mother-of-two said, after being diagnosed with cancer, the experience gave her 'a swift kick in the butt', prompting her to ask herself: 'Are you going to start living now, at 64, or are you going to keep on not quite living? You don't have to be what everyone wants you to be: just be yourself'.

Now, according to the former wife of Prince Andrew, she has made the decision to be herself. She explained that she is 'just not excusing [herself] any more'.

Her battle with cancer began last Summer, when she was diagnosed with the disease during a routine mammogram.

Sarah underwent a single mastectomy, but six months later, she was found to have malignant melanoma.

She currently has regular check-ups, and while she told Hello that 'her doctors that she shouldn't use the phrase "cancer-free",' her health outlook currently appears positive.

Just months after being treated for breast cancer, this January, Sarah was diagnosed with skin cancer.

The Duchess had a mole removed from her body which tests found to be a malignant melanoma - which is the most serious type of skin cancer.

However, at the time, she was described as being in 'good spirits' after the 'distressing' news, which was broken to her just days after Christmas.

While she keeps a tight check on her health, taking precautions like mole mapping, and visiting the doctors if she has any concerns, Sarah told the magazine she believes her health is 'better than ever' (before knocking on wood).

Describing how difficult it was dealing with the condition, Sarah said it was the help of her loved ones that helped her get through that time.

Among them, she listed her daughters Princess Beatrice, 35, (as well as Beatrice's stepson Wolfie, eight, and daughter Sienna, two) and Princess Eugenie, 34, and her two sons - three-year-old August and Ernest, who turned one last week.

She said: 'I have the most exceptional family and I have an extraordinarily great team and I have an enormous ability to turn to joy.'

Since the diagnosis, her new 'mission' is to encourage people to be vigilant regarding their health.

During the interview, Sarah also spoke about the upcoming release of the paperback version of A Woman of Intrigue - her second work of historical fiction for Mills & Boon.

She reiterated previous comments she has made about the pride she feels in embarking on a new career, as a novelist, in her 60s.

While doing a media tour for her the hardback version of the novel (which had a different title: A Most Intriguing Lady) in April 2023, Sarah said she was pleased that her writing career had taken off, giving her another 'claim to fame' aside marrying into the royal family.

In an interview with OK! magazine, the royal said her new career ensured that marrying into the Firm was no longer her 'only claim to fame'.

She said: 'I feel very proud to have embarked on a new career in my sixties.

'Not many people get that opportunity. Now having married into the royal family isn’t my only claim to fame, I'm an author who has made the Sunday Times Bestsellers List. It feels like this is my time. It is very liberating.'
