Todd Blanche, former President Donald Trump's hush money trial defense attorney, said he lost between seven and eight pounds during the ordeal because he skipped the high calorie McDonald's luncheons.
Blanche appeared on the For the Defense Podcast this week and was asked by host David Oscar Markus if he gobbled down the McDonald's that was often seen being brought to the courthouse at lunchtime.
The defense attorney answered that he tried to stay away from the copious amount of unhealthy options.
'Oh, no-no-no,' Blanche said when asked if he ate McDonald's daily. 'Well, first of all, I didn't have lunch one day. I ate in the morning and at night.'
'Look, President Trump's team takes care of everything. Like, everybody gets food. You know, there's a lot of food. It's not always McDonald's. There's a ... variety. There's pizza, and there's other non-healthy alternatives to McDonald's.'
Former President Donald Trump's defense attorney Todd Blanche, pictured amid jury deliberations last week, said he lost between seven and eight pounds amid the trial by forgoing the buffet of McDonald's and other unhealty food provided by the president's team
A Trump aide is seen carting in bags of McDonald's food into court for former President Donald Trump and his team amid the Stormy Daniels hush money trial. Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts last week
The lawyer said he 'loved' that Trump's people provided the buffet.
'Because, you know, you come in from lunch, and as you know when you're on trial, you're trying to figure out what the heck you're gonna stuff in your belly with the hour you have,' Blanche said.
'And we would walk in, and there would just be this, just, plethora of just food everywhere,' he said.
But Blanche used the opportunity not to engorge himself, he told the podcaster.
'I always take trials as an opportunity to lose a few pounds. It's my own little way to lose weight,' the lawyer said.
'I think I lost—well I haven't weighed myself since the verdict, but—seven or eight pounds during the trial,' he revealed.
The former president may have not been so lucky.
Amid jury deliberations former President Donald Trump was seen alongside Lay's potato chips, Milk Duds, a Milky Wa bar, Whoppers and Starbursts
As the jury deliberated his son Donald Trump Jr. showed Trump drinking a 20-once Diet Coke, with an open bag of Lay's potato chips.
Additionally there was a box of Milk Duds, a Milky Way bar, a theater-sized box of Whoppers and a pile of Starbursts on the table in front of the former president.
Trump's love for junk food - especially McDonald's - is a well-documented affair.
His go-to meal is two Big Macs, two Fillet-O-Fish and a chocolate malted milkshake - according to ex-aides Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie in their book, Let Trump Be Trump.
Controversial author Michael Wolff wrote in his 2018 book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, that Trump loves McDonald's due an unusual concern.
Trump 'had a longtime fear of being poisoned, one reason why he liked to eat at McDonald's - nobody knew he was coming and the food was safely premade,' Wolff said.
