Commemorations celebrating the 80th anniversary of D-Day have continued tonight in awe-inspiring scenes taking place in Normandy.
Events continued well into the evening in the French seaside town as soldiers, veterans, officials and members of the public gathered for remembrance events in England and France.
A vigil for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Great Vigil took place at the Bayeux War Cemetery in Normandy, while across the Channel a drone display lit up the skies above the coastline in Portsmouth.
Earlier in the day bagpipers from France, Germany and the UK united to play their instruments during a procession from Bayeux Cathedral ahead of today's vigil.
