Jason Derulo has been slammed after he posted a fire in Ibiza as a metaphor for returning to a 'toxic ex.'

The Instagram video shows a cloud of smoke rising from a distant fire before Jason emerges from his palatial poolside accommodations with a drink in hand.

'Fire,' he wrote beside the cloud of smoke with a skull emoji.

'Walking back to my ex like,' he added as he began to happily walk outside.

The video was posted on Tuesday and has since garnered backlash from fans offended that Derulo had used the fire for a silly video.

'What's wrong with u? First before publishing you should think about the people who have suffered from the fire of a business in Ibiza,' one fan commented.

'Second, the video is not funny at all and I suppose you have the conscience to apologize and delete it. I don't understand that a video has to be made about a misfortune like a fire to gain likes. I hope you reconsider.'

One follower informed Jason the fire was at a warehouse near the Ibiza Airport and claimed people had lost their jobs due to the disaster.

'Jason is not funny. the place that caught fire is called Citubo and is an important reference for the island. many people have now lost money and jobs. a little respect,' one posted.

Another upset follower posted: 'I don't know what's funny in this video? Something so important to us is the forests and you act funny as if nothing happened? I think it's in very bad taste...I hope you don't come back to the island again @jasonderulo.'

The video was branded 'disgusting' by one offended viewer.

'This is just disgusting! Allowing this about misery of a fellow Ibiza company?!?!' another wrote.

'Just proved you have no respect at all for this island and its people, man! You don’t belong here, just go and never come back!' one posted.

Others were upset believing Derulo was referring to his ex-girlfriend Jena Frumes, whom he shares three-year-old son Jason King with.

'Toxic ex? Are u serious? You mean your child mother is toxic? Shame on you jason!' one wrote.

'Unfortunately for you.. your ex is as good as its going to get,' another posted, tagging Jena  in the comment.

Derulo, who broke up with social media star Jena months after their son was born in 2021, performed in Ibiza shortly before Tuesday’s warehouse fire.

No lives were lost but the premises belonging to supply company Citubo were gutted, leaving 42 families facing an uncertain future.

Tuesday’s fire broke out around midday local time. Local police had to rescue a woman who lived next to the warehouse.

Ibiza Council’s president Vicent Mari visited the gutted remains of the family-run business yesterday evening.

He voiced his regret afterwards it had “affected 42 families who had been left without jobs and left a 5,000 square metre warehouse razed to the ground.”
