Does it feel like the second you apply makeup in the summer it melts right off?
During the hot weather months, it's almost impossible to guarantee your makeup will last all day and well into the night, especially if you don't want to cake it on.
To find out how to ensure your glam won't budge, FEMAIL spoke to makeup artists and beauty experts about their tried and true tips.
It's possible you're prepping with the wrong products and you're probably not using enough powder - so here's how to get a glow that stays put.
New York City-based Rose-Marie Swift, makeup artist and founder of RMS Beauty, told FEMAIL, 'When it comes to summer makeup, less is more and the lighter the better.'
Miranda Kerr is a longtime friend of RMS founder Rose-Marie Swift and swears by her products for glam that lasts all day long
The Summer I Turned Pretty actress Lola Tung is another RMS fan, showing how to maintain a glow and subtle shimmer that stays put and doesn't fade away
Rose-Marie said the same is true for how you prep your face with skincare products, because 'the more you pile on, the more likely your product will slip away.'
'I avoid what I call barrier products which are silicones, synthetic sunscreens, and hyaluronic acid as they leave a tacky film on top of the skin... nasty,' the expert, whose beauty brand fans include Miranda Kerr and Lola Tung, remarked.
Instead, Rose-Marie opts for the brand's ReEvolve Radiance Locking Primer, which is a light moisturizer and primer in one that doesn't have a tacky finish and keeps makeup in place.
Rose-Marie's biggest piece of advice is to 'make the switch to a clean sunscreen' by looking for zinc oxide as the active ingredient.
'If others are listed, they're synthetic sunscreens and sweating underneath will be the end result,' the beauty guru warned.
And while you might enjoy hydrating with hyaluronic acid in the morning, Rose-Marie warned that it can lead to 'an extremely greasy and sticky result.'
As an alternative, she advised using oils at night and swapping any heavy creams you use in the morning.
If you want to freshen up your face but don't feel like applying all new makeup, Rose-Marie suggested a hydrating mist for a mid-day pick me up.

'Use the puff to press it into the skin in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) after you apply your makeup and then keep it with you to touch up throughout the day,' Rose-Marie advised
For those with oily skin that can't seem to make product stay put, RMS just launched the Hydra Setting Powder, which Rose-Marie promised 'will be an oily girl's (or anyone this summer) best friend.'
'Use the puff to press it into the skin in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) after you apply your makeup and then keep it with you to touch up throughout the day,' Rose-Marie advised.
RMS tested the product and found it keeps shine away for eight hours, as long as people use the powder puff, which is a natural cotton that helps absorb the excess oil.
And if your eye makeup seems to be streaming down your face, there's an easy hack.
Rose-Marie said to skip any skincare on your lids and try a primer followed by setting powder.
'Just apply a hint of setting powder on your lids before you apply your liner to help keep everything in place and prevent transfer.'
Rose-Marie isn't the only expert who suggested your lack of powder might be to blame for makeup fading away
You'll want to check the ingredients in your makeup if you feel like everything's melting off, and stay away from foundations with a high concentration of oil, opting for a water-based option

Ana Tamayo started her career in 2009 as a freelance makeup artist and now works as the executive director of product development at Polite Society in Los Angeles.

Ana has another technique - she advised starting with your usual skincare routine, followed by Polite Society's More Than A Pretty Powder loose translucent powder all over the skin, to set your skincare and 'create a soft, matte base for foundation.'
Then, apply foundation followed by another layer of the powder, which launches on June 20, to lock everything in place.
'It's important to use a finely milled setting power that is clinically proven to control oil, prolong the wear of makeup and minimize the look of pores,' Ana said. 'This will avoid making your skin feel heavy and looking dry or cakey.'
You'll also want to check the ingredients in your makeup if you feel like everything's melting off, and stay away from foundations with a high concentration of oil, opting for a water-based option, instead.
And like Rose-Marie, Ana is a fan of prepping the face for powder eyeshadow with a loose setting powder to help control oily lids.
Ashley, who has worked with stars like Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson and former Fifth Harmony songstress Lauren Jauregui, has mastered a subtle glow, as seen above
Ashley's a fan of using 'a concealer and tinted moisturizer combo, locked in with a setting spray and setting powder' on her clients, like the influencer above
Ashley is also a big proponent of primer, but tells people to make sure it's completely dry before applying base
Celebrity makeup artist Ashley Gomila, based in Los Angeles, is all about maintaining a light, glowy look on her clients all summer long.
Ashley, who has worked with stars like Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson, Jenna Jameson, and former Fifth Harmony songstress Lauren Jauregui, recommends 'avoiding full coverage foundations, they are very heavy and don't mix well with sweat or high humidity.'

And when it comes to taking your routine with you, she says the most important items to bring are concealer, a moist beauty blender for touch ups, and blotting papers.
Her go to is luxury cosmetic brand Obayaty's creamy Retouch Stick, which can cover up blemishes on the go.
But as long as you use the right powder - and apply in the morning completely - you should be all set for a summer day.
