The cheapest US cities for dining out revealed - and where you get the least grub for your buck

A new study has revealed the most affordable US cities for dining out - weeks after reports showed that over 50 percent of Americans consider fast food to be a luxury. 

Cookie Rookie, a popular food website, has published a brand new analysis on the best cities for two people to enjoy a three course meal at a mid-range restaurant without breaking the bank. 

This study also took into account each cities' favorite meals, state dishes and where the most cheap-eat restaurant are located. 

The website used Google and social media data to discover the top places - with all costing under $100. 

1. Fort Worth, Texas

Known to be deeply influenced by its Texan heritage, getting an appetizer, entrée and dessert in this city would only cost $60.

Fort Worth is renowned for its barbecue, Tex-Mex and cowboy cuisine-based food. The study also praised the city's 'plentiful' selection of over 21 inexpensive eateries per 100,000 residents.

2. El Paso, Texas

The city, which has turned itself from a border stop to a vacation-worthy destination in its own right boasts an incredible selection of food from countries such as Spain, Italy and Lebanon. 

3. Memphis, Tennessee

While the city is popularly known as a barbeque town, locals have long raved about its soul food, all-day breakfasts, fried chicken and specialty-grade coffee. 

4. Detroit, Michigan and Columbus, Ohio (tied)

The cities of Detroit and Columbus are tied for fourth position as residents only need to spend $70 to treat themselves to a hearty meal.

Those living in Detroit are spoiled for choice as the city is well known for its square pizza, slow roasted shawarma, sliders, lamb chops, baklava and corned beef egg rolls while eating in Columbus is an experience of its own as its acts as a home to multiple immigrant traditions and rich culinary history. 

5. Las Vegas, Nevada

While many come to the city of Las Vegas to revel in its nightlife, they tend to be caught by surprise after discovering that a three-course meal costs just $75 at a mid-range restaurant.

Apart from a wide range of casinos, Vegas also boasts incredible Italian eateries, New American cuisine, steaks, pork chops, and spicy mussels.
