Tragedy struck an Arizona family when their four-year-old girl was killed in a horrific crash on her way home from a swim lesson after a speeding drunk driver slammed into her family's car.

Lily Moster died on June 6, the day after the devastating collision in Queen Creek, Arizona.

She was in her family's minivan at a stop sign when it was rear ended by another driver doing almost 60mph, police said.

The crash left her dad Daniel and brother Luke, six, with minor injuries. Lily was air evacuated to Phoenix Children's Hospital where she tragically passed away in her parents' arms.

'It was the sweetest thing, you know, they removed all the equipment so mom and dad can really hold her like a baby and they wept and hugged her when she passed,' her grandfather, Dan Smith, told AZ Family.

'She's a treasure to the family. She's just a sweet little spitfire.'

Jason Sanchez, 33, has since been arrested and charged with DUI and second-degree murder.

Police said his black Jeep Wrangler failed to brake prior to the collision. His blood alcohol level was 0.111 percent, well above the state's 0.08 limit.

Sanchez admitted to having three or four beers at a casino before driving home, according to court documents.

He has been booked into Pinal County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Lily's devastated family are now being left to pick up the pieces of their lives following the loss.

'Dad feels guilt for no reason at all. It's not his blame, but they're struggling,' said Smith.

'Just slowly settling in when momma comes home from the hospital the first time and Lily's not there, that was a heartbreaking moment.'

He paid tribute to the 'perfect, loving and kind little girl' and spoke of the bond she shared with her brother.

'They were very close. She idolized her brother,' Smith said. 'When her brother's favorite color became red, suddenly her favorite color was red.'

The kids were both in the back seat when the driver slammed into the back of their minivan.

Moster immediately ran to them after the crash and found Lily unconscious, according to Smith.

'She's going to be sorely missed, but she'll live with us in our hearts. 'They're really clinging to Luke because he's what they have left.'

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family manage medical expenses and funeral costs.
