Shocking new report into LA prison reveals jailers were watching PORN and didn't notice noose hanging inside inmate's cell

A group of Los Angeles jail deputies were watching 'sexually explicit' videos when they failed to notice an inmate had hung a noose in his cell, a new report reveals.

The eight LA County Sheriff's deputies were caught watching porn during an inspection at the Men's Central Jail last month.

Commission Haley Broder and Eric Miller inspectors saw an 'obvious' noose hanging from the ceiling of a cell in the high security unit, which a jailer had allegedly walked by and ignored during a safety check, the inspection report states.

Broder and Miller notified the deputies of the 'self-constructed noose' and the group allegedly said they would check on the cell later, but instead 'remained seated watching the video on the television'.

The pair completed their inspections and Miller returned to the office 30 minutes later where he found jailers still watching the video, according to the report.

It was only when Broder walked in that the deputies 'hurriedly removed the video from the screen'.

'To me it looked like the beginning of an OnlyFans video or something,' Miller told The Los Angeles Times.

'It was women in underwear, and it certainly didn't look like they were going to put more clothes on. It looked like they were going to take them off.' 

The report claims that the commissioners had to make several requests before one of the deputies reluctantly checked the cell, tore down the noose and threw it on the floor outside the cell.

'Though unlikely to support the incarcerated person's weight, the noose was obvious to anyone looking into the cell,' the report stated.

The commissioners spoke to the inmate who hung the noose and, according to the inspection report, he confirmed he had suicidal ideation.

It is alleged that when a deputy was informed that the inmate needed additional mental health support, the jailer 'shrugged the request off'.

Miller branded the 'degree of callousness' exhibited by the deputies as 'horrific' and question 'what's the purpose of the security check if you're not actually taking any action?'

Broder claimed the incident was representative of the 'continuous neglect and bad conditions' she has seen inside the facility.

'People were saying they were hungry. We saw people with giant open wounds. The trash was just everywhere — there's so much trash. It smells. There are fires,' she told the newspaper of the jail's condition. 'And it seems in general there is just a genuine lack of interest in changing that situation.'

The LA County Sheriff's Department has reportedly addressed several of the concerns outlined in the inspection report and launched an investigation into the eight deputies who were allegedly caught watching porn.

'When the Department became aware of the allegations in early May, we immediately initiated an investigation into the claims, which is ongoing. Custody Division also notified the Department Intake Specialist Unit that reviews claims for any policy of equality violations by personnel,' the department said in a statement to DailyMail.com.

'The Department investigates all allegations of misconduct and expects its personnel to perform its responsibilities in a professional manner in accordance with Department policy. When violations of policy and procedures are discovered, personnel are held accountable.'
