Trump says he would rather get electrocuted by a sinking boat than eaten by a shark in bizarre rant at his rally

Former President Donald Trump again proclaimed that he would take electrocution over being eaten by a shark during a bizarre rant Sunday at his Las Vegas rally.

Trump famously detests both sharks and electric vehicles - including boats.

The Republican said he plans to roll back President Joe Biden's electric vehicle mandates should he be reelected in the November election.

As his crowd battled nearly 100-degree temperatures to hear him speak, Trump discussed what would happen if a battery-powered boat started to sink, hindered by the heavy and 'tremendously powerful battery.'

'And the battery is now underwater and there's a shark approximately 10 yards over there,' Trump said. 'By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately - you notice that?'

Before concluding the sinking boat story, Trump briefly talked about shark attacks.

'I watched some guys justifying it today: "Well they weren't really that angry, they bit off the young lady's leg because of the fact that they were not hungry but they misunderstood who she was,"' the presumptive Republican nominee said.

'These people are craz[y.] He said there's no problem with sharks they just didn't really understand a young woman swimming,' the ex-president continued.

He then turned back to the question at hand - electrocution or being eaten.

'So there's a shark 10 yards away from the boat, 10 yards ... do I get electrocuted if the boat is sinking? Water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking. Do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted?' Trump asked. 'Or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted?'

In October Trump laid out the same scenario to a group of Iowans

He came to the same conclusion both times.

'I'll take electrocution every single time. I'm not getting near the shark,' the ex-president said.

'[B]ut only if we substantially increase biohazard containment capabilities,' the lawyer and television pundit added.

Trump's dislike of sharks is well documented and goes back years.

In a 2011 interview for In Touch Magazine, which wasn't published until January 2018, porn star Stormy Daniels recalled watching Shark Week programming with Trump at his private bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel in July 2006.

'He is obsessed with sharks. Terrified of sharks. He was like, "I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die." He was like riveted. He was like obsessed. It's so strange, I know,' Daniels recalled.

In a series of 2013 tweets, Trump publicly discussed his disdain for the sea creatures.

'Sorry folks, I'm just not a fan of sharks - and don't worry, they will be around long after we are gone,' he wrote in one tweet.

'Sharks are last on my list - other than perhaps the losers and haters of the World!' the then-reality star and real estate developer added.
