The moment that Apple fans have been waiting for finally arrived last night, as the tech giant officially announced iOS 18.
The major iPhone update includes new customisation options, Messages over satellite, and the eagerly anticipated Apple Intelligence.
'We are thrilled to introduce iOS 18,' said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering.
'It is a huge release with incredible features, including new levels of customisation and capability, a redesigned Photos app, and powerful ways to stay connected with Messages.'
While iOS 18 will officially be released this autumn, it will only be available on selected iPhones - so, is yours on the list?
The moment that Apple fans have been waiting for finally arrived last night, as the tech giant officially announced iOS 18
Apple has confirmed that iOS 18 will be available on the vast majority of its most recent iPhones.
This includes the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and the iPhone SE (2nd generation or later).
However, if you're using an iPhone X or earlier, unfortunately you won't be able to enjoy the software update.
This news has come as a huge blow for many users with older devices.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote: 'not available on iPhone X why ?'
Another added: 'If SE is supported, I definitely think X should be supported.'
And one joked: 'I'll be rockin' this 8+ for a few more years. Just got a new in the box device. $199. Perfect. Enjoy your features.'
iOS 18 was announced at an event in California last night.
The most notable updates appear to be centered around privacy, and the Messages app.
On the privacy side, users will be able to lock specific apps, so if they ever hand their phone to someone else, they can keep aspects of their device private.
In a similar move, users will also be able to hide certain apps from view or in a hidden folder.

In Messages, iPhone users will soon be able to schedule messages for the first time, while the company is to also begin supporting the sending of messages via satellite, meaning users can stay in contact with others without WiFi or a data connection.
Arguably the most exciting feature is Apple's new AI system, Apple Intelligence, which will be integrated on iPhones with the new software update installed.
'This release also marks the beginning of a tremendously exciting new era of personal intelligence with Apple Intelligence delivering intuitive, powerful, and instantly useful experiences that will transform the iPhone experience, all with privacy at the core,' Mr Federighi said.
'We can't wait for users to experience it.'
