A 16-year-old has been killed after the car she was traveling in fell off a bridge in central Brazil.
Gabrielle Marques died after Edilson da Silva, 41, lost control of the vehicle while he was going up a hill last Friday in Guaraí, Tocantins.
Eight people were rescued and six, including Marques' mother, were rushed to Guaraí Regional Hospital with multiple injuries.
Da Silva failed a breathalyzer test and was arrested for drunk driving, the Tocantins Public Security Secretariat said.
Vanessa Marques, 33, told Brazilian news outlet G1 da Silva, a family friend, tried to climb up the slope as he was approaching the bridge and crashed into a stream.

Vanessa briefly lost her consciousness and woke up with the body of her daughter on top.
'I already woke up after the accident. I woke up in the stream with things all over me,' she said.
'People had already left, but my daughter was on top of me, she was already dead.'
Vanessa said Gabrielle was in the first year of high school and took pride in helping with the care of her younger siblings.

'She was a sweet, humble person, a friendly, beautiful, wonderful girl with a huge heart,' she said.
'I took care of her alone for God to take her away from me like that.'
Gabrielle was laid to rest Sunday, according to the Tocantins Public Security Secretariat.
Da Silva appeared before a judge Monday and was placed in pre-trial detention.
He has been charged with manslaughter while driving a motor vehicle and culpable bodily injury.
