Gypsy Rose Blanchard's estranged husband Ryan Scott Anderson has opened up about how he helped her adjust to the outside world following her release from prison, revealing the Munchausen by proxy victim didn't even know how to use an iPhone after eight years behind bars.
Gypsy, 32, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for her part in the killing of her abusive mother, Claudine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard, in 2015, and spent nearly a decade locked up before she was granted early parole and released in late December.
While incarcerated, she and Ryan, 38, a special education teacher from Louisiana, grew close after he started sending her letters - and they decided to tie the knot in July 2022, while she was still in prison.
Ryan was by her side when she was freed - but just three months later, news hit the web that they had split.
Now, Ryan has spoken out about what the first few weeks after nearly a decade behind bars was really like for her to the Today show - and how he assisted in getting her accustomed to her newfound freedom.

He also dished on their sudden and 'hard' divorce, admitting that he was 'blindsided' by 'how fast' things changed between them.
While chatting with the publication, Ryan recalled moving in together after years of managing their relationship while she was in prison, and he explained that it was certainly an adjustment.
'I've known her for a long time... we had been talking for years. May [was] four years that we've known each other,' he dished.
'Living with Gypsy is different than talking to her on the phone - that's definitely different. But what you see is what you get with Gypsy.'
Gypsy's release was documented in the new Lifetime series Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, which premiered last week, and Ryan admitted that 'learning how to be in this world' together while 'being filmed the whole time' was 'definitely a culture shock.'
He recalled helping Gypsy with basic things that she wasn't used to - like using an iPhone.
'Those are some of the things that I love, those moments between me and her. She's trying to figure out her phone and I'm an Android guy,' he said.
'I got her an iPhone and so sometimes, she'd ask some questions I wouldn't know how to answer.

'I cherish moments like that, where she didn't know how to do something and I had to show her how.'
Gypsy spent her childhood posing as a wheelchair-bound invalid after mom Dee Dee shaved her daughter's head, pumped her full of drugs and convinced the world she was suffering from leukemia and muscular dystrophy.

Their 'inseparable' bond ended when Gypsy burst free of her warped mom's control in 2015 by letting her besotted internet boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, creep into their Springfield, Missouri, home to stab 48-year-old Dee Dee to death.
When Gypsy was arrested for the murder, the case completely captured the nation. And almost immediately after her release, she became a social media sensation, gaining a legion of followers who wanted to know every detail about her life after prison.
While Ryan said it was 'cool' that she 'got so many followers so fast,' he admitted that it was 'shocking' for him.
'It was definitely eye-opening to see how fast it just blew up. That was a shocking surprise,' he stated. 'I just couldn't believe it.'
He also recalled being 'followed' by photographers for 'hours,' which he described as 'insane.'
Gypsy announced that she and Ryan had separated on her private Facebook page in late March.
It was then reported that she had reconciled with her ex-fiancé Ken Urker, who she was briefly engaged to while she was in prison.

Ryan reflected on the split to Today, explaining, 'It was like, she was here one day and the next she was gone. 'She wanted to be married, and and now she doesn't. It's just crazy'

'She wanted to be married, and and now she doesn't. It's just crazy how it all happened like that.
'I probably know her better than anybody else in the world. She was more than just that person to me. I didn't look at her as what she did as who she was.
'I'm still in reflection and processing mode. A lot has happened. It's hard to wrap my head around a lot of things that have happened because I mean, when I say I'm blindsided, I really am blindsided about how fast things progressed.'
He added that the divorce had been 'hard on both of them,' but that he had 'no regrets.'
'I don't have any regrets really, as far as my actions and what I did. I stand by everything I did and said,' he concluded.
'Gypsy's still in the process of finding herself, and I hope she does.'
Ryan previously spoke about it to DailyMail.com, and he said the news of her reuniting with her ex 'came out of the blue.'
'I'm not doing well with it. For me it just came out of the blue. I had no idea she still had such strong feelings for him,' he said.
'I haven't spoken to her, so I just don't know what's going on. I'm at a loss. I'm really not doing well at all.'
During an interview in late May, Gypsy insisted that there was 'no intimacy' between her and Ken and that he was simply being a supportive friend – despite her previously sharing a kissing selfie with him on Instagram.
'People need to understand that Ryan and I had been in a relationship for three years. In those three years we had been through a lot of ups and downs,' she said. 'Sometimes relationships just take [their] course.'
When asked if she 'regretted' marrying Ryan, she added, 'I regret getting married while I was still in prison. I don't regret the relationship.'
