Horrific moment man, 27, is shot dead in the back of head inside Colombia bar - just three months after his freedom

A surveillance video captured the horrific moment a man was executed while drinking at a bar in Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia.

In the footage, the 27-year-old can be seen sitting with two men around 11:16 pm Saturday night in the Kennedy neighborhood.

A customer walks into the bar and is followed by the assailant, who smacks him and shoots the victim three times in the back of the head.

The horrified customers could barely move from their seats in the small bar as the gunman escaped and the victim was left slumped over the table.

Bogotá police commander Julio Botero told reporters that the victim's murder may have been caused by a settling of accounts.

Botero added that he had been released from prison three months ago.

The victim had a long rap sheet that included arrests for illegal possession of a gun and drug trafficking.

Bogotá authorities had not made any arrests as of Wednesday afternoon.

Crime stats show that 354 homicides were registered in the first four months of 2024. 

In comparison, 349 murders were reported during the same period last year. Authorities logged 305 killings over the first four months of 2022. 

April has been the deadliest month this year, with 111 murders reported, an increase of 11 percent from March. 

The gunman followed a customer (white hat) into the bar and hit him in the head before he opened fire on the 27-year-old victim and fled 

At least half of the killings between January and April have been carried out by hired assassins.

Councilwoman Diana Diagó said the administration of Mayor Carlos F. Galán has done nothing to curb the violence.

'Insecurity is a headache for Bogota residents,' she said.

'And with the change of government there is no improvement, we have been in this administration for almost 6 months and we continue without seeing a clear outlook for security.'
