This is the terrifying moment a motorcycle blew up in front of a gym in the western Colombian region of Valle del Cauca, leaving six people injured.

A surveillance video showed parking attendant Rafael Gonzálel placing a piece of a cardboard box over the seat of the bike before it exploded around 6:30 am Wednesday in the downtown district of the municipality of Jamundí.

A second video showed a police cruiser driving by the parked motorcycles when the bomb exploded. One of the officers could be seen stepping out of the vehicle while two bystanders struggled to maintain their balance as they walked away.

The Colombian government attributed the bombing to the Estado Mayor Central (EMC), a dissident faction of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

'The EMC in Valle del Cauca return to doing what they know how to do: Kill humble people from the town,' President Gustavo Petro wrote on X.

'Their path is greed for which they do not care about the destruction of communities. The EMC is a force hostile to the people. The Army must complete the offensive in the Micay canyon.'

Two injured police officers, who were steps away from the bomb, were rushed to a clinic in Cali.

González had been hired by two banks to watch over the bikes that were parked in front of the branches by customers. He suffered severe injuries to his right leg.

Martha Valencia, who owns the gym, told Noticias Caracol that a man arrived around 6:10 am and abandoned the motorcycle.

'The man who takes care of the motorcycles was a little suspicious, but he saw that he left and didn't realize (the bomb on the motorcycle),' Valencia said.

'The explosion occurred at 6:50 and we were all here, fortunately inside the gym, no one was affected.'

School classes were cancelled and businesses near the explosion site were closed for the day.

'In my life I had never felt what a bomb is, but now we have to be with God,' Maribel Molina told RCN Noticias.

The bombing took place just minutes before FARC dissidents opened fire on a police station in the Jamundí neighborhood of Potrerito.

FARC dissidents were also behind the bombing of a SUV near a police station last Friday in Jamundí. No injuries were reported.
