Six big school districts in Nevada responsible for thousands of students have policies to help them change sex identity in class without their parents finding out, DailyMail.com can reveal.
Parents Defending Education (PDE), a conservative group, obtained details of the stealth transgender policies by making public records requests from the schools.
The found that teachers are directed to help trans students change their names, pronouns, clothing, and sex identity in class without their parents' knowledge.
Trans campaigners say such policies are helpful, as some kids need refuge from old-fashioned moms and dads who don't accept their offspring changing sex.
But for some parents, they are dangerous, and could deny them a chance to help youngsters as they struggle to navigate adolescence.
Emails from Elko County School District reveal that students can transition without their parents' knowledge
Researchers obtained internal documents from six school districts that are responsible for thousands of students
PDE's researcher Erika Sanzi told DailyMail.com that officials were letting down thousands of parents and kids.
'Most parents in Nevada will be shocked and appalled to know that schools are engaged in a psychosocial intervention to facilitate students' new gender identities behind the backs of their parents,' said Sanzi.
The schools and Nevada's Department of Education did not answer DailyMail.com's requests for comment.
They are Elko County School District, Douglas County School District, Washoe County School District, Humboldt County School District, Clark County School District, and Carson City School District.
PDE will add the six districts to its nationwide database of schools with secret trans policies.
It lists 19,598 schools across 1,086 districts that educate a staggering 11.5 million students.
PDE obtained dozens of communications and documents from the schools that would be of concern to some parents.
In Douglas County schools, teachers are directed not to 'disclose a student's preferred name, pronoun, or other confidential information' when speaking with their parents.
Emails from Elko County schools showe students can transition at school when parents have 'not been contacted on the issue.'
Teachers and students at Humboldt County schools can face punishment for 'bullying' trans students by not using their preferred pronouns or names, the files show.
Meanwhile, in Washoe County, students learn about new-wave gender ideology using materials from the Trevor Project and other LGBTQ advocacy groups.

A person's biological sex, their gender identity, and how they express it, are presented as in a state of flux.
For some parents, this is a rapid and challenging departure from long-held understandings of people being biologically either male or female.

Under state laws, schools must protect the privacy of students and let them use bathrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity, according to the ACLU.
LGBTQ youth also have legal protections against discrimination and bullying, according to the Movement Advancement Project.
Lawmakers in 2021 passed a bill requiring school districts to teach more lessons about people from marginalized groups who've made 'contributions to science, the arts and humanities.'
But the laws and policies have been contentions in the Silver State.
A local chapter of Moms for Liberty, another parents' rights group, seeks to remove LGBTQ+ books from school libraries at Clark County schools.
They highlight such titles as Gender Queer and Flamer for their graphic descriptions and images of adolescent LGBTQ sexual experiences.
Christiane Merscha, a Nevada campaigner for the group, says it's time for 'people that have common sense and have a new direction on the board' of schools.
Educators are under pressure to assist trans students in this fractious political environment, where gender and sex have become a frontline in the culture wars between progressives and conservatives.

Tensions are rising as teachers grapple with the small-but-growing number of children wanting to change gender at school, and the especially tricky ones who don't want their parents to know about it.
Against this backdrop, parents, kids, teachers, and therapists have to make tough calls about rising rates of transgenderism, mental health issues, peer pressure and whether affirmation-on-demand is always the best answer.
The number of transgender children between the ages of 13 to 17 has doubled to about 1.4 percent, an analysis of government health surveys show.
There's been similar rises in teens seeking puberty blockers, hormones and surgery, insurance data reveal.
Advocates of 'gender-affirming care', as it is known, attribute the rise to more awareness of gender dysphoria and support among clinicians.
Other experts, conservatives and parents warn of an ideologically-driven 'social contagion'.
Disagreements over notifying parents take place alongside debates on whether trans teens can use the school restrooms and compete in sports aligned with their gender identities.
Again, the rules vary by state, and often end up in courts.
DailyMail.com has spoken with several parents of trans-identifying kids. Many worry that their offspring were influenced to transition by classmates, TikTok influencers, or teachers and school counselors with a drum to beat.
Some do not believe their kids are truly transgender and aim to defer such irreversible steps as puberty blockers or surgery. Many said their child instead had mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, and autism.
