Reggaeton pioneer Don Omar has revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican singer, born William Landrón, broke the heartbreaking news via his Instagram account Monday morning.

'Today yes, but tomorrow I won't have cancer,' Don Omar wrote alongside a photo of his patient wristband at Orlando Health in Orlando, Florida.

'Good intentions are well received. See you,' he added.

The surprising news comes as Don Omar completed in April the first half of his 'Back to Reggaeton' 20-city tour across the United States and Canada.

The second leg of the tour includes 18 shows, beginning August 8 in Oakland, California and concluding in Belmont Park, New York on September 15 before he returns to Puerto Rico for a series of shows.

On Saturday, Don Omar shared on Instagram a video clip of a recent audition for backup dancers for new series of concerts.

'The most special thing about today's auditions is seeing that there are people who want to dare to dream with me,' he said. 'Thank you to each of you who gave your all on the dance floor! This second stage of the tour comes with everything.'

It is unknown how the cancer treatment will impact with the remainder of the tour.

Known as the 'King of Reggaeton,' Don Omar has won 17 Billboard Latin Music Award, three Latin Grammy Awards and one Billboard Music Awards while also playing the role of Rico Santos in the Fast & Furious franchise.

His first studio album in 2003, The Last Don, was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. His next project, King of Kings, became the highest ranking reggaeton full-length album in the top 10 US charts.

The Latin music industry showered with support on social media.

'You have not gone through any trial that is not humanly bearable. And you can trust in God, who will not let you suffer trials harder than you can bear,' his former manager Rafael Pina wrote. 'On the contrary, when the test comes, God will also give you the way to get out of it so that you can endure it.'

'You are a warrior of a thousand battles and you will win this one too of course,' Puerto Rican Grammy Award winner Olga Tañón wrote.

'God is with you as always and prayers are full of good wishes and will heal you,' fellow reggaeton star Franco El Gorila wrote. 'You are a warrior, one of the greatest who has not allowed life to win over you. I am rooting for you my brother and even more so I am rooting to the one above who will heal you.'

'That's the attitude, the mind controls the body,' concert promoter Paco López added. 'A lot of faith and patience with the whole process, blessings. Praying for you.'
