Howie Mandel has revealed his wife Terry was high - not drunk - when she suffered a shocking fall that left her with her skull exposed.
The incident occurred in Howie and Terry's hotel room at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas after the couple enjoyed an evening of partying.
He went off to sleep, only to be jolted awake by a loud noise and discover to his horror that his wife was on the floor in a pool of blood.
When he first told the story on TV this Monday, he described Terry as having been 'tipsy,' leading many viewers to blame alcohol for her injuries.
However she was in fact under the influence of cannabis gummies, the America's Got Talent judge clarified during an interview on TMZ Live.

'She slipped, went down, hit that on her eye, then fell on the floor and broke her cheek,' explained the St. Elsewhere alumnus
'First of all, she wasn't drunk,' said Howie, who has been married to Terry since 1980. 'She's so worried that people are going to intervene with her alcohol problem - she doesn't have an alcohol problem.'
He shared: 'I'm gonna tell you the truth - she took gummies. She took gummies. So it's not an alcohol problem. She was on pot.'
Howie explained that he used the word 'tipsy' on TV as a catch-all for being under the influence as he was initially reticent to reveal that Terry had used marijuana.
He first told the story of his wife's terrifying fall on Monday, saying that he went off to sleep not realizing that they had 'partied' to a degree that was 'too much' for Terry.
'In the middle of the night she got up and — I don't know where she was headed — but she headed into the wall,' he shared on Live! With Kelly And Mark. 'And she fell and hit the wainscoting. She hit that as she went down.

'I heard "bang" and "ahh" and I woke up and I went: "Where are you?" And she went, "I don’t know." That's what she said.'
The show put up photos of Terry's after the accident, with injuries including a black eye and a grisly forehead gash surrounded by a bruise.

After the studio audience reacted in astonishment to the picture, Howie shared further details of how the night of the fall unfolded.
'I turn on the light, I look, I look around the bed. She's in the corner, face down, and I didn't know she'd cut her head. But blood is pooling,' he said.
'I freaked out. I picked her up, I put her on the bed. There's blood every[where],' he went on. 'I went and grabbed all the towels, and all the towels are covered with blood. And she's going: "Get me ice. Get me ice."'
Since there was no ice in the room, Howie tried to substitute a chilled soda can from the minibar, but Terry was in such pain that she flung the can away.
Then he attempted to make a makeshift icepack by wrapping two cold soda cans ina towel, but she hurled those away in agony as well.
'When she did that, I saw her head, and you could actually see her skull. It opened up,' he revealed to gasps from the crowd. 'I freaked.'
He dialed the front desk, asking them to call 911, but they declined to do so until the hotel staff could come upstairs and assess the situation for themselves.
Howie quipped that, with the blood and the soda cans scattered about, an onlooker might imagine that he had beaten Terry up himself.
He found himself begging with the hotel staffers to call emergency services, as they surveyed the room and took pictures of the evidence.
When she finally arrived at the hospital, Terry was still under the influence and began panicking and calling for a doctor - because she had drawn her sheets up over her face and was unable to see that the doctor was already in the room.
