Netflix has teased a new docuseries on Simone Biles ahead of the Olympics in Paris, as the USA gymnastics star shares behind-the-scenes footage of her life since her withdraw in Tokyo, four years ago.
The trailer for the four-episode series was released on Wednesday, with the first part set to premiere on July 17, only nine days before the Olympic Games' inauguration ceremony - according to the streaming giant.
In the docuseries, Biles, 27, will not only chronicle her preparations to resume her position at the top of gymnastics, but also explain her reasoning behind dropping out of competition at the previous Olympics (2021), her return to the mat in 2023 and getting ready for the US Olympic Trials.
Moments featuring her husband - NFL safety, Jonathan Owens - as well as her former Team USA teammate Aly Raisman and her mother Nellie Biles will also be included.
An official synopsis for the docuseries describes Biles as 'one of the biggest stories leading into' the COVID-hit, 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo before the four-time gold medalist was affected by the 'twisties.'

The series will also show never-seen-before footage of Biles' married life with Jonathan Owens
'Since then, Simone has put in the hard work: facing the difficult traumas of her past, learning to manage her mental health, embracing her journey, and in the process, rebuilding her gymnastics from the ground up,' the synopsis reads on Just Jared.
'Her courage to soar knows no bounds as this summer she plans to return to the Olympic stage once again to do what she's always done - be the best Simone Biles that she can be. Because through it all, Simone still rises.'
In a statement shared by Netflix, Biles said of the upcoming docuseries: 'We are all the authors of our own journeys, and I am in a place in my life where I'm comfortable with who I am and what I've been through as an athlete, but most of all, as a person.

Biles was on the sidelines several times to cheer on her husband during the 2023 NFL season
'Gymnastics is what I do but it's not who I am, and I'm excited for people to see another side of me outside of competition.'
She added in a separate statement: 'I know there are young girls out there who look to me for inspiration and are faced with similar challenges, and my hope is that this documentary helps to empower them to be true to who they are and never give up on their dreams.'
Biles has flourished in her comeback to be a participant at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, as she's won the top title at the 2024 US Gymnastics Championships and U.S. Classic. in May.
Her seven career Olympic medals are currently tied with Shannon Miller for the most Olympic medals won by any American gymnast, according to the Olympics' official website.
