JetBlue fliers who purchase Blue Basic fare tickets will soon have the same carry-on bag luxury as other ticket holders.
The airline announced its decision to implement a new carry-on bag policy in a news release on June 18.
The policy, which will be in effect starting on September 6, will allow Blue Basic fare ticket holders to bring one free carry-on bag on any JetBlue flight, in addition to their current allowance of a personal item such as a purse or briefcase.
'We are constantly reviewing our product offerings to ensure we have the right mix of low fares and amenities to exceed our customers' expectations and remain competitive in the airline industry,' a JetBlue spokesperson wrote in an email to Daily Mail.
'We believe this move will increase customer satisfaction and provide yet another reason to book with JetBlue.'

The news of the upcoming carry-on bag policy was first announced in a press release on June 18
JetBlue president Marty St. George said in the press release that this move is 'a win-win' for the airline and it aims to improve 'the customer experience.'
'Carry-on bags are an important part of travel to customers, and when presented with a choice between JetBlue’s award-winning service and another carrier’s basic offering, we want JetBlue to be the easy winner,' said St. George.
'We’re always looking for ways to evolve our offering in response to customer preferences.'
Although this policy will be in effect this fall, JetBlue noted that some carry-on bags may still need to be checked due to small space in the aircraft's compartments.
'As flying becomes cheaper and more accessible for a spectrum of customers, a one-size-fits-all offering no longer works,' said St. George.
'Whether a customer prefers more included benefits, or they shop solely on price, our fare options, coupled with our great onboard service, makes JetBlue the best choice.'

The current policy for fliers with Blue Basic fare tickets does not allow the passenger to have a carry-on bag.
However, fliers with Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, and Mint fare tickets can bring one carry-on bag on their flights.
Fliers with Blue Basic fare tickets are the final group to board a JetBlue flight, which means these fliers may have the most significant chance of needing to check their carry-on bags for free if necessary.
The new policy has excited X (formerly Twitter) users, and one person tweeted, 'Thank God, I haven't flown with them for that reason.'
Fliers may be required to check carry-on bags for free while others are boarding to the limited space in an aircraft's compartments
All carry-on bags must either fit in an overhead bin or under the seat in front of the passenger.
If a bag that was expected to be a carry-on bag exceeds the length or weight, it will need to be checked, and the flier would need to spend a $65 fee if it's their first or second bag.
