The homeless man who police say was stabbed to death by a University of Southern California frat boy after being confronted for attempting to break into cars has been identified.

27-year-old Xavier Cerf, who is said to have been homeless, was named by the Los Angeles County medical examiner.

Cerf's sister paid tribute to him in a Facebook post on Wednesday, and expressed anger at the fact that he had not been named by the media.

She added that he was more than just a homeless man, noting that he loved to draw, sing and dance.

This comes after 19-year-old Ivan Gallegos was arrested on Monday night in connection to a fatal stabbing at Greek Row. He is being held on a $2 million bail.

According to USC student publication The Daily Trojan, officers responded to the stabbing, which was reported at around 8.15 pm.

Los Angeles Police Department said Cerf was attempting to break into a car by the Lambda Chi Alpha and Delta Tau Delta fraternity house.

Cerf allegedly told the student he had a gun, which resulted in Gallegos confronting him and stabbing him multiple times.

Police reportedly found the victim in an alley, suffering from stab wounds. Paramedics arrived and pronounced Cerf dead at the scene.

According to his LinkedIn, Gallegos is a sophomore at USC studying business administration.
