Tom Brady has shared some rare details of Bill Belichick's game day preparations as the former New England Patriots head coach would always have the 'answers to the test,' according to the former NFL quarterback.
Appearing on FOX's 'The Herd with Colin Cowherd' program on Wednesday, the 46-year-old, seven-time Super Bowl champion was asked if the team felt worn out on the eve of game nights on Saturdays after a full week of practice and game prep under Belichick, 72.
It's widely known that Belichick was meticulous as one could be in his approaches to games and had a no-nonsense attitude in practice.
'I think the answer would be no, and I think that's where Bill was actually so great,' Brady said.
'And no one saw him in those moments like we did. On Saturday night, we were so prepared and focused, we were the opposite of tight. We were always relaxed because we had the answers to the test.
Tom Brady praised Bill Belichick's attention to detail in the buildup to games while on the Pats'
'Let's say we had 150 calls on the call sheet. There was a squad meeting at 8. I would meet with the quarterbacks starting at 6.30 and the offensive coordinator. We'd go through every single play on the call sheet.'
Earlier on the 'The Herd,' Brady opened up on his new lease on life as an NFL analyst as he braces himself for the upcoming 2024 season in the fall, when his 10-year $375million deal with Fox will kick in.
Brady will surely remember his debut in the booth alongside FOX's Curt Menefee and Joel Klatt as he was heavily booed in St Louis, where he and the Patriots caused an upset by defeating the hometown rams in Super Bowl XXXVI (2002) - the first title of New England's dynasty.
The 46-year-old, seven-time Super Bowl champion made his broadcast in the booth last week
'The only way I knew how to combat the nerves and the anxiousness of the game was to prepare,' the five-time Super Bowl MVP said about his early days as an NFL player. 'So I was someone that got really, really good at my preparation over the course of my career.
'I got really efficient with my time, especially as you add a lot of other things to your life like children, you know, that's, that's a big addition.
So it's ''How can I prepare?'' knowing that I have other things going on in my life and I really want to be efficient with my time to make sure the time I am spending preparing is really worth it.
'I'm working on the things that are actually going to add to the broadcast rather than just working on things to work on them that will actually never come up.'
