Music sensation Chappell Roan inadvertently got Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon to repeat 'there are gay people' in the audience as she did an appearance on his show on Thursday.

During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Chappell, 26, talked the origins of her catchphrase, 'your favorite artist's favorite artist.'

'You said something at Coachella that I loved. You said, "I'm Chappell Roan, and I am your favorite artist's favorite artist,"' Jimmy began.

Chappell, who recently performed at the Kentuckiana Pride Festival, explained the catchphrase was a nod to drag queen Sasha Colby. 'That was a reference to Sasha Colby. And she says,' she said, drawing cheers from several fans in the audience. 'There's gay people here!' she added.

'Yes! Yes, there are gay people here,' Jimmy repeated with laugh.

'Sasha Colby said, "I'm your favorite drag queen's favorite drag queen." And... it just hit me through the heart. And so I was like, "I just hope Sasha Colby one day watches me", and that's why I said it,' Chappell explained.

Fallon also admitted he Googled Chappell prior to her performance, prompting the singer to respond, 'Did you not know who I was before?'

'I just wanted to see what popped up!' he replied.

Fallon pointed out that, upon searching for Chappell, Google suggested, 'Did you mean: your favorite artist's favorite artist.'

'I think that's kind of fun!' Fallon said.

'I didn't do that!' Chappell said. 'It's this random twink that works at Google... I know it's just some assistant that like, "We love her!"' she said before mimicking a typing motion.

During her appearance Chappell also performed her hit new track, Good Luck, Babe!

Her appearance on The Tonight Show comes after Chappell – born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz – broke down into tears while performing on stage in Raleigh, North Carolina last week.

She had tears running down her face as she told the audience: 'I guess I just want to be honest with the crowd. I just feel a little off today ‘cause I think that my career is going really fast and it’s really hard to keep up.

'So I’m just being honest that I’m just having a hard time today.'

The rising star went on to explain that her meteoric and sudden rise to fame is hard to take in even if it is her biggest dream come true.

'So sorry that — I’m not trying to give you, like, a lesser show. It’s just, there’s a lot… Thank you for understanding. This is all I’ve ever wanted. It’s just heavy sometimes, I think,' she explained.

Chappell - who cites her aesthetic to be heavily influenced by drag queens - has been performing music for more than half of her life.
