The billionaire co-founder of Susquehanna International Group (SIG) - who has a $21 billion stake in TikTok - has placed his bet on the winner of this year's presidential election.

Jeff Yass - a skilled poker player with a keen sense for getting large returns on his investments - is currently the richest man in Pennsylvania with a personal fortune of $47 billion.

Yass has doled out some of his fortune to various organizations and has become one of the largest backers of the antitax political advocacy group Club for Growth.

The billionaire is rumored to be in consideration for a potential spot in the presidential cabinet, if his predicted winner comes out on top: Donald Trump

His political fortunes may not be a surprise for those who know Yass, but his support for Trump comes as a shock to those familiar with the businessman's onetime opinions of presidential candidate.

'He doesn’t have any donors. He doesn’t need the money. He gets so much free publicity,' Yass told the Wall Street Journal in 2022.

'It’s not like you can influence him at all. The only thing you can appeal to is, ‘You’re gonna lose and be humiliated.'

A New York native, Yass wrote his thesis about the ethics of options trading while attending SUNY Binghamton.

He studied economics and math while having fun playing poker and backgammon.

During that time, he and his college friends Steve Bloom, Eric Brooks, Andrew Frost, and Joel Greenberg created SIG, which has since become a technology firm empire worth almost $67 billion at the end of March.

SIG also invested in 2012 and now owns a 15 percent stake in TikTok's China-based parent company, ByteDance.

Yass and Trump's growing affiliation had a chance to come to an end due to the president-elect supporting a TikTok ban in the US.

However, that swiftly changed last March after shares of Digital World Acquisition Corporation jumped 30 percent.

Digital World Acquisition Corporation merged with the former president’s Media & Technology Group earlier that month, a big part of that was due to Yass.

The share jump helped in hiking up Trump's net worth to $6.5 billion and putting him on Bloomberg's list of the 500 richest people for the first time.

Just after Trump's historic financial successes, he reversed his position on banning TikTok, the reason being that it would empower Facebook, which he said was the 'enemy of the people.'

Yass, who's been a registered libertarian since 1996, has political views that have not come without controversy.

The businessman has spent millions of dollars funding politicians who focus on minimizing government involvement in areas such as taxes, trading, education, and gaming.

Trump is one of those politicians, and he was shunned by Club for Growth in 2023.

However, Trump claimed that he and the Club for Growth are 'back in love' and his meeting with Yass at one of the group's retreats took place right before his position reversal over the TikTok ban.

Campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung maintains that there have been 'no discussions of who will serve in a second Trump administration.'

It comes as Donald Trump's list of potential running mates has been narrowed to just three.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) are the three remaining contenders after the former president's team said earlier this summer it was down to about seven candidates.

Trump said over the weekend that he had made up his mind about who he plans to add to his presidential ticket in November, but that no one else knows.

More than a dozen sources involved or with knowledge of the process confirmed to NBC News that the pick is either Burgum, Vance or Rubio.

But really, some claim it's down to Burgum and Vance and say that there are doubts over Rubio's enthusiasm for the job – and the issue of them both being Florida residents could pose issues with the 'inhabitant clause' in the 12th Amendment.

Trump and Biden are set to debate on Thursday, with Trump demanding 'crooked' Joe Biden take a drug test ahead of this week's presidential debate, saying he would also take one.

The ex-president's request comes after his former White House doctor, Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, who served under both President Obama and Trump, asked Biden to take a drug screening ahead of the televised event.

According to a letter Jackson sent to Biden and his top White House doctor obtained by DailyMail.com, the Republican requested drug tests for the president before and after Thursday's debate.
