A teenager who was found covered in dried blood after crashing his pick-up truck while 'intoxicated' has police scrambling to work out what happened.

Aaron Richard, 18, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police responded to a major accident on FM 2871 near I-20 in Tarrant County, Texas, about 1:55 a.m. Monday.

Officers who responded to the accident immediately noticed Richard was covered in a large amount of dried blood, which was also splattered across his vehicle.

Investigators noticed blood streaked along the driver's side of Richard's white single-cab 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck and across different areas of the exterior.

Officers also found dried blood on the inside of the truck.

When asked about where the blood came from and how he came to be covered in it, TSCO say Richard refused to explain.

Authorities are now asking anybody who might have seen Richard or the truck to contact the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

Richard was previously serving a six-month probation sentence on a charge of disorderly conduct in Haltom City.

He posted $500 bond on the driving while intoxicated charge according to the Tarrant County Jail.

A charge of driving while intoxicated could possibly impact his probation.

Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call their Criminal Investigation Division on 817-884-1305.
