A swimwear brand has been slammed online for dedicating a $165 bikini to the memory of Rosa Parks.

Earlier this year, Divino Seas, which is based in Miami, debuted the matching 'rosa' bikini top and bottom on their website.

In the description for both products, the brand outlines how they were inspired by 'the woman whose righteous rebellion against apartheid style segregation in the United States sparked the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s'.

Rosa Parks was an American civil rights activist who famously refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in December 1955 - sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which protested segregated seating on public transport.

The description continues: 'In honor of Rosa Parks, DivinoSeas has included this artesian [sic] inspired salute to haute couture in the domain of luxury swimwear.

'ROSA is meticulously designed with divinity in the details. Every element in the constellation of her composition contributes to the sets’ seductive yet stately gravitas.'

Both the bikini top and bottoms, which are made of polyester and spandex, are currently half-price on sale and are available in sizes XS-L.

Earlier this week, the bikini's product description caught the attention of Pauli Mia, who is the lead singer of the American band Twin Princess.

Stunned by the unlikely Rosa Parks tribute, the musician posted screenshots of from the website on X and wrote: 'Can I show you guys something?'

The X post has now amassed over 11,000 'likes' and been viewed by almost 300,000 users.

One follower replied: 'LMFAO we have reached peak millennial marketing.'

Another joked: 'RIP Rosa Parks, you would have loved this stripper bikini top.'

'I don't think Rosa Parks would wear this,' a third replied.

Meanwhile, a fourth added: 'This is hilarious! A complete disconnect between design and marketing.

'Did someone put a prompt on “AI” like “Write 100 compelling words about the color rose”?'

Echoing this sentiment, a fifth said: 'I really need to know which part if this screamed "stately gravitas".'

What's more, Pauli's viral post drove others to the website, where they discovered there is also a bikini set named after former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.

'This uniquely textured Legacy Line item likewise goes against the grain of the zeitgeist while embracing the truth through body positivity via comfort and quality.'

After spotting the Eleanor Roosevelt tribute, another shopper simply wrote: 'I can't lol.'

'Oh my God, they're real,' one responded. 'They're both real.'
