A sex expert has revealed why women should wait until they are engaged before getting tangled up in the sheets. 

Louise Perry has become known for sharing her candid thoughts about intimacy and why casual sex can have a slew of 'repercussions.' 

Most recently, the UK-based specialist revealed the real reason that women shouldn't become intimately involved with men until they have a ring on their finger. 

During an episode of The Diary Of A CEO podcast hosted by Steve Bartlett, Louise shared that having sex before your man got down on one knee was a 'big risk.' 

She explained that dating was a 'whole game' and that women often felt 'disgusting' after one-night stands, adding that they should change their communication styles around sex.

'Lack of social rules sets everyone up to fail,' she told the podcast host. 

Louise noted that women and men often ended up in difficult situations because men didn't know how to properly read 'social cues,' whereas women weren't able to communicate that they didn't want sex because they were trying to set boundaries while being 'friendly.' 

She explained that if women waited to have sex until they were engaged, they would be less likely to get caught up in emotions. 

'A lot of young women go along with [casual sex] even if they don't want it. That causes a lot of misery because women in particular tend to get more emotionally bonded from sex more than men do,' she added. 

Louise also reveals during the chat that, according to data, women 'feel disgusting' after one-night stands. 

She explained that instead of rocking the boat, women went along with casual sex and then ended up facing the consequences - especially when alcohol was involved.

'[There are] repercussions of casual sex,' the expert said. 

Louise also suggested that waiting to have sex had much to do about reproduction.

She noted that if you didn't want to have a baby with someone, then you shouldn't be sleeping with them.

'Having sex with a man you don't want to get pregnant by is a bad decision and a big risk,' the podcast guest added. 

However, Louise shared that she knew her advice wasn't easy to follow. 

She explained that the dating had become a 'complicated game' in recent years. 

'You have to find the right person, you have to find them at the right time, you have to ensure commitment from them,' Louise said.

'And of course, there's this whole game about how men may want to have sex with more people and a woman wants to tie a man down, it's really a complicated game and society has comes up with ways of regulating it.' 

At the end of the episode, Louise turned her sights on society's stance with porn.

She questioned: 'If a man isn't willing to stand up in front of everyone you and he knows and promise to cherish you for ever, then how can you be sure he's really committed to your shared life and to that child?'
