President Joe Biden's administration pressured Amazon to censor books on vaccines during the height of the COVID pandemic, an act tantamount to 'modern-day book burning,' one of the authors who had their work throttled said.
According to internal Amazon emails uncovered by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, the company created a new 'Do Not Promote' category for certain books on vaccines after receiving 'criticism from the Biden administration' in March 2021.
The correspondence shows that the White House's displeasure with the 'anti-vax' books was the 'impetus' for the 'Do Not Promote' category, which effectively hid the books on the site.
One of the 43 books added to this list was one by author Neil Miller titled 'Miller's Review of Critical Vaccine Studies: 400 Important Scientific Papers Summarized for Parents and Researchers,' which was released in 2016.
Speaking exclusively with DailyMail.com, Miller slammed the White House and Amazon for censoring his book, 'If my book is being censored, they are censoring medical and scientific literature. I do not agree with modern-day book burning.'
U.S. President Joe Biden receives a booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine administered by a member of the White House Medical Unit. According to internal emails from Amazon employees, White House criticism was the 'impetus' for the company censoring vaccine books
'My book is not political,' Miller continued. 'It contains summaries of 400 studies taken from the National Library of Medicine.'
'If Amazon is censoring it at the request of the Biden administration, I believe they are trying to control the narrative on vaccine safety because my book provides an alternative perspective to what people are hearing from orthodox sources.'
'There is nothing in my book that should be feared,' Miller added. 'In fact, my book should be welcome precisely because it provides information that will permit people to make more informed decisions about their health care.'
In addition to Miller's book, Amazon added children's books and books that questioned large pharmaceutical company's influence over vaccine trials.
Almost all of the books on the list, if not all, expressed some sort of skepticism over vaccines.
Miller's book in particular summarized published studies on vaccines, as he noted to DailyMail.com.
Dr. Robert Sears, who wrote 'The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child' told DailyMail.com he was not surprised to find out his book was also censored by being placed on the 'Do Not Promote' list.
'I was not surprised to learn our government tried to play a role in suppressing honest and open conversation about something as controversial as childhood vaccines,' he exclusively told DailyMail.com.
'But I don't think our government was successful in this, as now more parents than ever before are questioning the CDC vaccine schedule and are considering raising their kids vaccine-free.'

In this email between Amazon employees uncovered by the House Judiciary Committee, one employee clearly states that they created a 'Do Not Promote' category for 'anti-vax books.' They continue on saying the 'impetus' for 'this request is criticism from the Biden administration'

'The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child' by Dr. Robert Sears was another book that was added to the 'Do Not Promote' list after pressure from the White House
Sears decried how politicized vaccines have become in recent years, saying his book, which was originally published in 2007, has no right or left bias.
'While my book is completely apolitical, the topic of vaccine mandates has become a very partisan issue,' he said. 'The states which have passed mandatory vaccine laws for children in the last decade have Democratic supermajorities.'
'For reasons which aren't clear to me, the Democratic party seems to push vaccine mandates, whereas the Republican party does not. It seems that 'my body, my choice' doesn't extend to parents having the autonomy to make all medical decisions on behalf of their children.'
Sears also slammed the scientific community for repressing dissenting opinions about vaccines and their effectiveness.
'If you ask most mainstream doctors and vaccine policymakers, they'll tell you there is no controversy. The entire CDC schedule of vaccines is safe and effective as is, and there's no reason to question it or get informed. Therefore, vaccine books aren't even necessary. So, just by existing, my book is controversial.'
'If you ask my readers, they'll tell you there's nothing controversial about it - it's just plain, simple, objective information presented in a way that helps parents reason through the pros and cons of vaccination so they can make an educated decision - an unalienable right that I believe all parents should have,' he told DailyMail.com.
Additionally, a book meant for children titled 'What Are Vaccines?' by Amber Rae Johnson, was also added to the 'Do Not Promote' list, despite it imploring children to bee friends with each other regardless of vaccination status.
'Under the guise of combatting 'anti-vaccine' misinformation, Amazon censored everything from picture books for children to books criticizing Big Pharma,' Jordan wrote on X decrying texts subject to the company's 'Do Not Promote' labeling.
'This is unconstitutional government censorship, full stop,' the Judiciary chairman continued.

Jordan has been investigating how the government has overreached its authority since January 2023 when he spun up the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.
So far that committee has uncovered instances of federal surveillance over bank transaction records, big tech companies - like Amazon and Youtube - censoring speech online at the behest of government officials and multiple whistleblower complaints.
