California Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife are moving their family to an exclusive part of the state so his daughter can attend a new private school.
The Democrat, touted as a future presidential candidate, will stay in his six-bedroom $3.7 million suburban Sacramento home with spouse Jennifer Siebel Newsom some nights of the week.
But he will relocate his children 90 miles away to Marin County in time for the fall semester, when his eldest child Montana will enroll at The Branson School - which has tuition fees of up to $60,000 a year.
The move comes at a time when he is already fueling speculation he has his focus on his political future beyond when his term ends as Governor in 2027.

Newsom indicated he already has one foot out of the door with a pre-recorded State of the State address on Tuesday where he compared 2024 to 1939 - when fascism was on the rise on the eve of the Second World War.
Newsom's office confirmed the move to the elite Bay Area enclave to Politico.
'To ensure continuity in their children’s education, the family will split their time between Sacramento and Marin heading into the coming academic year', according to the governor's spokesperson Izzy Gardon.
Newsom's term as governor is up in January 2027, and he is a favorite to be one of the top contenders in the 2028 presidential race.
He was touted as a potential replacement for Joe Biden, but shut down speculation and will now be a campaign surrogate.
One of his first major appearances on the campaign will be in Atlanta, Georgia, for the first presidential debate on Thursday night.

Instead of disrupting their children's' lives in the middle of a school year, the move will allow Montana to start as a high school freshman.
Newsom grew up in San Francisco but then moved to Marin, one of the wealthiest communities in the country. He and Siebel both attended schools there.
In the tony suburb of Ross, where the elite school Montana plans to attend is located, the median household income is $250,000 and the median home price is $1.6 million - double California's state average.

The couple have four children - Montana, Hunter, Brooklyn and Dutch. In May, Siebel Newsom said she had to take one of them out of school because of bullying.
Newsom was branded a COVID hypocrite during the pandemic for imposing a mask mandate in schools while Montana and Hunter attended a basketball camp maskless.
Newsom pulled them out of the camp in July 2021, and at the time insisted he 'missed' the email which stated the kids wouldn't have to wear face coverings.
It wasn't the only time he was accused of double standards during lockdown, after he was caught having a maskless meal at the lavish French Laundry restaurant.
