United Airlines issued a bizarre explanation for why a Texas mom and her 16-month-old son were booted off one of their planes after she claimed she was barred for misgendering a flight attendant.
Jenna Longoria claims she, her 75-year-old mother and baby were booted from a flight from San Francisco to Austin on Wednesday after she 'accidentally' called a flight attendant who identifies as a woman, 'sir.'
'When [the flight attendant], who identifies as a woman, gave me our boarding passes I said "thank you, sir." That is it. That is it,' Longoria told the New York Post.
'She got upset. I walked to the plane to go down the aisle. Then she held my mother back and wouldn’t let her come with me [past the gate].'
However, United Airlines have since cast aspersions on her version of events by issuing a statement on what happened.
Jenna Longoria accused United Airlines of preventing her and her mom from flying from San Francisco to Houston on Wednesday after she used the wrong pronoun for a flight attendant
'A party of three traveling out of San Francisco today was not allowed to board following a discussion about having too many carry-on items,' a spokesperson said.
'The matter was resolved and the customers took a later United flight to finish their trip.'
However, before she was apparently rebooked Longoria took to Instagram to vent about the situation.
'They're saying it's a hate crime that I did and that I might not even be able to ever fly United again,' she fumed in one clip.
The employee is seen telling Longoria: 'I gotta fact find. I gotta get my crews together. In flight has to get their statements. I need statements. I don’t want to go verbal about what I thought I heard'
The mom claimed the flight had taken off without her but with her luggage containing medication still on board
Longoria, who is a widow, added: 'I said, "I'm really sorry, I'm not very versed in pronouns," I was holding my son, he was having a temper tantrum, I had the car seat on my back.
'I wasn't really focusing on anything except getting my son's car seat on the plane and getting him comfortable.'
Even in her videos of the incident it appeared there was more to the story, with another showing a United Airlines staffer suggesting that Longoria had done more than just confuse pronouns.
In the clip, she can be seen talking to a United staff member who informs her it was the captain's decision to deny her from the flight for 'what came out of your mouth'.

'I don’t want to go verbal about what I thought I heard.'
Longoria said she apologized for misgendering the airline employee, adding that her son was having a 'meltdown' as they waited to board athe plane

'They basically said tough luck and they won't tell me exactly what I said,' Longoria said.
In another clip, the desperate mom is seen pleading with her 20,000 Instagram followers for advice on what her rights are.
'We don't know how we're going to get back today,' she said. 'I don't know what to do, I really don't know what to do.'
DailyMail.com has contacted Longoria for comment.
