The Chicago Tribune has joined the chorus of damning editorials that have slammed a second Biden term as the publication branded him a 'man who gets flustered and struggled to keep track of complex facts'.

Following the president's humiliating performance at Thursday night's CNN debate against former US President Donald Trump, American media has rallied together in their growing calls for Joe Biden to step down.

The 81-year-old is set to discuss the future of his re-election campaign this weekend amid the fallout of the debate, but if the liberal media has finally caved on the president, his options may be limited.

Recent polls indicate that even fewer voters believe Biden is prepared for another four years in The White House but numerous liberal Media giants have added fuel to the fire by making bombshell demands of the commander-in-chief and asking him to finally throw in the towel and quit the presidential race.

In a recent show of frustration toward the idea of a second Biden term, The Chicago Tribune became one of many US publications to blast the president with its June 28 editorial, titled: 'As America sank into the couch, Joe Biden and Donald Trump combined for a depressing farce. Enough.'

The Chicago Tribune dubbed the presidential debate 'awful', stating: 'Standing for that office again? It's a ridiculous idea'.

The paper slammed the president as 'an encapsulation of what many Americans have come to know very well as they care for aged parents, partners, friends, grandparents and colleagues.

'A man now struggling to maintain a line of thought and keep track of complex facts, a man who gets flustered under deadline pressure, a man who has become vulnerable and yet, at the same time, far less self-aware'.

But amid their damning dragging of the elderly president, The Chicago Tribune also threw poisoned daggers at Trump.

'Trump was mostly just himself, energetically narcissistic, cavalier with truths, cruel of tone, bereft of empathy,' the piece read.

'But, President Biden, jobs rarely love you back. There is life thereafter. And, in this case, it has to be done. As we all saw,' it ended.

It comes after TIME Magazine released a startling cover on their August edition that showed the president appearing to wander off the page with the singular word 'Panic' for the title.

The magazine reported Democratic Party leaders were in a state of disarray while they were watching the debate unfold, in their June 28 piece, titled: 'Inside Biden's Debate Disaster and the Scramble to Quell Democratic Panic'.

'Biden appeared every bit the 81-year-old grandfather that he is, stammering with a thin voice through unintelligible arguments and often staring blankly, mouth agape, as Trump lobbed one verbal attack after another,' TIME senior correspondent Philip Elliott wrote.

'Biden froze up repeatedly and fumbled even some set-piece lines he had prepared in advance for the moment.

'Panic is not too strong a word to describe the sentiment that coursed through the Democratic Party from top to bottom as the debate unfolded.'

The Washington Post Editorial Board also took Biden to task by asking him whether continuing to stay in the race at the sake of his own pride was worth the damage it could do the country.

'If President Biden had weekend plans, he should cancel them in favor of some soul-searching,' the editorial board wrote in their article: 'How Biden and the Democrats should think through what to do now'.

'His calamitous debate performance on Thursday raises legitimate questions about whether he's up for another four years in the world's toughest job.

'It's incumbent on this incumbent to determine, in conversation with family and aides, whether continuing to seek reelection is in the best interests of the country.'

On MSNBC's Morning Joe - one of the president's favorite programs - host Joe Scarborough gently urged Biden to step aside on Friday.

'He spent much of the night with his mouth agape and his eyes darting back and forth,' the anchor said.

'He couldn't fact-check anything Donald Trump said. He missed one layup after another after another.

'The question is though, despite my belief that Joe Biden has had an extremely successful first term, is it time for him to step down?'

In Georgia, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution issued a shocking front page ultimatum for Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race following his 'excruciating' debate flop.

The editorial board wrote that 'retirement is now necessary' for the 81-year-old incumbent - asking him to pass the torch to a more competent candidate.

'The unfortunate truth is that Biden should withdraw from the race, for the good of the nation he has served so admirably for half a century,' the editorial board said in an op-ed that appeared on the front page of Georgia's largest newspaper Saturday, titled: 'It's time for Biden to pass the torch'.

'This wasn't a bad night; it was a confirmation of the worst fears of some of Biden's most ardent supporters - that after 36 years in the US Senate, eight more as vice president and a term in the White House, age has finally caught up to him.'

The New York Times Editorial Board has demanded Biden drop out of the race for The White House after the publication accused him if a 'reckless gamble' in continuing his reelection bid after Thursday's debate.

In a scathing opinion piece, titled: 'To Serve His Country, President Biden Should Leave The Race', the board said Biden appeared to be a 'shadow' of himself and the argument that he was the best Democratic candidate to take on Trump was no longer valid.

Unable to ignore the president's performance, the publication put it bluntly, saying: 'Mr. Biden can't continue this race.'

'There are Democratic leaders better equipped to present clear, compelling and energetic alternatives to a second Trump presidency,' the New York Times said.

'There is no reason for the party to risk the stability and security of the country by forcing voters to choose between Mr Trump's deficiencies and those of Mr Biden.'

It added that standing down would be against Biden's 'personal and political instincts' but that Thursday's debate 'cannot be written off as a bad night'.

The Atlantic also joined the chorus with their: 'The End of the Biden Era' story claiming 'Biden had one job—don't look old and befuddled—and he failed'.

The magazine bashed the old president for his bumbling performance, but raised concerns about the replacement of the leader.

'Replacing Biden is going to be almost literally impossible unless he willingly steps down,' it read.

'Biden controls nearly all of the pledged Democratic delegates; to reopen the nomination process, he would have to end his candidacy and then release them,' it explained, before warning: 'Time is running out'.

But it's not just the Liberal media who are voicing their concerns over a potential second Biden term.

The number of registered voters who believe Biden isn't fit for the title of commander-in-chief grew by seven percent from earlier this month.

Before the debate in a June 9 poll, 65 percent said Biden doesn't have the mental fitness to serve another four years – but after the debate, that grew to 72 percent, according to the CBS News/YouGov survey.

And nearly half (46 percent) of Biden's own party don't think he should run for president in 2024.

Despite Democratic Party members, donors and strategists claiming it might be time for Biden to step aside, it seems there are a lack of alternate options and many lawmakers aren't jumping on board with switching candidates this late in the game.

Nearly three-quarters of voters of all parties said that Biden shouldn't be running for president – and most said it was because of his age.

A whopping 86 percent said Biden's age is why they don't want Biden continuing to run for reelection, while the second-highest reason was the 71 percent who are worried about decisions he might make in a second term in office.
