Simone Biles, 27, laughs off her 'grandma' Team USA tag after qualifying for another Olympics

At Simone Biles' first Olympic Games in 2016, the then-19-year-old Texan referred to then-22-year-old American gymnastics teammate Aly Raisman as 'grandma'.

What does that make the now-27-year-old leader of Team USA, easily securing her spot in her third Olympiad in Paris?

Biles laughed off the 'grandma' moniker, even though she is older than her quartet of American teammates for this month's Summer Olympics. The second-oldest that'll wear a red, white, and blue leotard in France will be Jade Carey, 24.

'I definitely feel 27 after meets like this,' Biles said on The TODAY Show, after the US Olympic Trials. 'Whenever I wake up in the morning and I'm like ''Oh gosh I'm hurting." 'It's not the same as when I was younger. Aly wasn't a grandma, I'm a grandma.'

The youngest member of team USA is Hezly Rivera, who turned 16 last month, giving Biles an 11-year head start on one of her Parisian teammates.

Does Biles like being the oldest member of Team USA for a second time, now married to Chicago Bears defender Jonathan Owens, at 27?

'Yes in the gym, but I know outside of the gym, I'm like young, hip, and fresh. So it's okay,' she said.

Biles did show her age with another quote, when asked what this quintet should be called, in reference to the 'Fierce Five' at the London Games, or the 'Final Five' in Rio.

'Ask the TikTokers, they'll think of something,' Biles said of a team-name suggestion, rejecting the 'Fantastic Five', the 'Phenomenal Five', and the 'Fearless Five', the final being a nod to Taylor Swift.

Biles qualified for her third Olympics as the only member of Team USA to automatically book their place in Tokyo by winning the all-around competition at the Olympic Trials.

Team USA inadvertently picked the top-five finishers in the all-around competition to represent the country in Paris.

After picking the all-around winner, a Team USA committee is allowed to choose any competitor from the Trials to best suit the needs of the team, with the goal being to win as many medals as possible.
