A two-year-old boy had his his foot amputated after a horrific accident at his day care.

Washington state officials say the accident happened last week as the child became trapped underneath a riding lawnmower at Rodriguez Daycare in Quincy, which is about 160 miles east of Seattle.

Quincy Police Department Chief Ryan Green said: 'From my understanding, a gentleman was out mowing his lawn at an in-home daycare when a young child, under the age of one, was close to the machine and its blade got ahold of their foot and sucked the child underneath the mower.'

'The officers found the child covered up in a blanket and assessed the situation and saw that the child's foot had been amputated and there were severe injuries to part of the child's right leg.'

The boy was first taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center but then flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Angela Axelson, a friend of the boy's family, started a GoFundMe, but did not identify him, saying the family wanted his name to remain private.

'My friends 2 years old son was severely injured at his daycare, where he was run over by a riding lawn mower,' Axelson wrote.

'They have a large family and this really put them into a struggle. He is currently in Children's Hospital in Seattle, where they did have to amputate his foot.
