The terrifying moment a home invader broke into an Idaho home and tried to kidnap a child was caught in surveillance footage.

Briayan Vergara, 28, is accused of trying to abduct the four-year-old child before he went on to another home in Burley and raped a 68-year-old woman in her house in June 2023.

The home owners say Vergara, who was armed with a knife, was seen on the video entering the house, as the front door was unlocked.

Vergara is seen talking to a little girl, touching her head, before he picks her up.

The suspect carries the child for about 15 seconds before setting her back on the ground and exiting the home.

The girl's mother, Kiana Mae Greener-Gibson, told the Idaho State Journal that Vergara looked out the front door before putting the child down and leaving.

The four-year-old was not harmed in the incident, according to police.

Greener-Gibson was home at the time, taking care of her newborn, and did not notice the intruder.

She told KMTV she did not realize what had happened until her husband texted her asking who was in the house after noticing the man on the security system.

Police say they believe Vergara went to three other homes before he was recorded in the family's security camera.

Officials say Vergara walked throughout the city for hours, entering homes and committing several crimes.

At one home, he reportedly told the homeowner that he would kill her if she screamed.

He tried to resist arrest, at one point grapping an officer's stun gun.

Vergara is awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to rape, burglary, kidnapping, assault and battery.
