A gruesome cell phone video captured the moment an alleged member of the Sinaloa Cartel instructed one of his accomplices to shoot at his rivals, who were already dead, inside a dump truck in southern Mexico state of Chiapas.

The footage, leaked by the criminal organization itself last Friday, showed 14 bodies lying on top of each other following a gun battle in the town of La Concordia, 98 miles from the border with Guatemala.

The victims were still wearing their bulletproof vests with their high-powered rifles lying over their bodies before one of the Sinaloa Cartel members climbed inside the truck.

The cartel member, whose voice is heard in the video, alleges in the video that the victims were backed by Ataulfo López, a local farmer.

The man orders his henchmen to remove the victims' weapons. But before doing so, he tells one of the members to shoot one of the victims.

The Chiapas State Attorney General's office was alerted Saturday and dispatched agents to the scene, where they located a pickup truck and a dump truck blocking the road.

The victims, according to the Chiapas State Attorney General's Office, were hired assassins linked to the Guatemala and Chiapas Cartel, an organization tied to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which is warring with the Sinaloa Cartel over weapons, drugs and migrant trafficking routes in La Concordia, a town located 80 miles from the border with Guatemala

Investigators found two more bodies in the cab and another two lying on the dirt road next to the truck. Another body was found 100 yards away from the pickup truck, which had been shot up in the attack.

Chiapas authorities confirmed that six of the victims Guatemalan and members of an alleged assassin squad that worked under the Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel, which is linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

The Guatemalan victims were identified as Mario 'N', Geremías 'N', Fredy 'N', Baudulio 'N', Óscar 'N' y Luis.

Their last names were withheld by the government because of due process laws. The other 13 victims not been identified because they were not carrying legal documents.

During Tuesday's press conference at the National Palace in Mexico City, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador linked the killings to the ongoing dispute between criminal organizations.

'What motivates this? Drug trafficking and also migrant trafficking,' López Obrador said. 'That said, human trafficking is a route. Unfortunately in these murders there are people from Guatemala, they are Mexicans and Guatemalans, Guatemalan brothers. We are already looking into this.'

In recent months, Mexico's military has carried out multiple arrests related to weapons and drug trafficking and the smuggling of migrants in the area surrounding La Concordia.

Last week, at least 1,200 troops assigned to the armed forces and the National Guard were dispatched to increase security.

López's daughter, La Concordia mayoral candidate Lucero López, 28, was one of six people shot dead at a campaign rally on May 16.

Two weeks before her death, gunmen attacked Ataulfo López's ranch and killed 10 people. Several vehicles and properties in the vicinity were set on fire.
